About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
- The RRP for the hardback is £80. It is often reduced but still an expensive book. I don't see the point of buying a 4,000 page book in paperback -I'm sure it would end in tears [pun intended].
- I got this the last time it was on offer a couple of years ago. I find its better read on a tablet than my [admittedly ancient] kindle. There isn't an index. There is a contents list at the beginning of the book with a list of chapters. There is a chapter for each letter of the alphabet. Each chapter is in 2 parts: the first gives background information of what Yorkshire pudding or Zabiglione or whatever is and the second part gives recipes.
- There's nothing quite like this book for the background information, especially about french cookery.
- You can buy kindle books as a gift, so this could be a nice surprise for friends or family who are interested in this

Larousse is known and loved for its authoritative and comprehensive collection of recipes. Here it is brought up to date for 2009 in an attractive edition containing over 900 new colour and black and white photographs. All chapters have been read and edited by field specialists, and 85 biographies of chefs have been added. Entries have also been regrouped for increased accessibility.Originally created by Prosper Montagnè and published in 1938, this essential addition to any kitchen has withstood the test of time and become an invaluable source of information for every enthusiastic cook. Without the exaggeration and extravagant distractions of many of today's cookery titles, New Larousse Gastronomique contains recipes, tips, cooking styles and origins for almost every dish in history."
