My advice. Don't use Packlink. A quick Google or search of the eBay forums will tell you how they operate. It isn't pretty. Book direct if you can, even if it's a bit extra. Royal Mail have surprisingly good rates at the moment and free collection.

I've used it for years, never had a problem sent via DPD, UPS, Evri, all no issues. Never been sent a notice of overweight/oversize etc. Just make sure to correctly declare the size/weight

Royal Mail 48/24 includes insurance and would avoid Evri/Yodel so its' only DPD or UPS (not on this offer) I ever use.

    DPD is included.

Avoid packlink shocking after service, as others have said when Royal Mail includes collection and £150 insurance it’s worth the 40p extra

I had a claim with Royal mail , sold an item through ebay which I originally paid £20 for , only sold for £2 , and that's all Royal mail will compensate for the final sale value (edited)

I bought a couple of eBay RM labels today and I had various packlink options, DPD at £4.15 being one of them

I'll stick with royal mail collection and printed labels direct from their site thanks.

My advice is if you can't afford to lose it don't use packlink

Use Royal mail. Packlink are based in Spain so when any issues arise they are difficult to deal with. Go direct to a courier if needs be.

As others have said difficult to deal with regarding any issues, don't recommend

It is ok for low cost item (20-25). For pricey stuff, Royalmail tracked service is very affordable with a lost compensation of upto £150. Also i believe RM is much more reliable and trustworthy (lost/damage cases are very rare).

Well - spent ages onto Packlink "support" who insisted that 30% is automatic....errr, no! It didn't work at all for me. So it's 3.5kgs by Royal Mail at £5.99 (which is cheaper than Packlink...Go Figure!)

I just use Royal Mail Tracked 48, £3.29 at the moment for a small parcel up to 2kg with £150 insurance.

I used to use Hermes a lot since they were cheapest, but times have changed and lately I've found Royal Mail to be much more cost effective. Royal Mail Tracked 48 always seems to be cheaper than the competition, and as a bonus, they do free collections *and* can even bring the label for you so you don't need to bother printing anything off. Super easy and convenient.

I sent something way under a kg. Packlink contacted me saying the parcel was weighed as 4kg (it was a toy action figure)! Wanted me to pay double. Only way to dispute the charge was to take pictures of the parcel on scales... how are you suppsoed to do that when they delivered the parcel already? Literal joke. Take pictures with your parcels on scales with ruler for measurements... sad but needed.

Any good deals for parcels going abroad?

The rates for insurance are pretty high if you want to send anything of any real value.

Surprisingly (for me at least) Royal mail special delivery usually works out cheaper.

I had success with the 30% on an item weighing 175g (£2 instead of £2.87) but I'm trying to send an angle grinder weighing 3.5kgs (£5.99 RM / £6.36 Packlink) but the 30% is not kicking in. any suggestions - any way to get "code" to work? Thanks
    alex_ahlen's avatar
Not sure if I can answer your question. Maybe it is just "up to 30%" on certain price points? You can send for 5.15 with yodel via parcel2go as an alternative. Not sure if that helps but if there isn't a cheaper option on packlink it's something (edited)

Great used this morning. 10 parcels. No problems.

T&C are not clearly stated, and are impossible to find now the pop up on my phone has disappeared, but it is on selected delivery labels only.

    From memory :

    Up to 1kg for Evri - £2.00
    All DPD £4.15
And an offer on Yodel 1-2kg (not sure of the price)

Hopefully someone else can get a screen shot while it is briefly available because the links from the promotion banner on eBay's homepage don't redirect you anywhere useful !

I’d advise staying well clear of Packlink. Used them once and it was nothing but trouble - give them a search online and you’ll see a recurring theme.

Great for sellers of smaller items as with the discount its very viable with the 80% off FVF offers. I sell a few electronics and accessories for consoles which are around £25 so this is great for me.

This promotion has saved me over £77 up to now compared to Parcel2Go and still a few days left. Not one problem with deliveries. £0.62 minimum saving per parcel so well over 100 delivered without problems.
This saving will offset a tiny portion of the horrendously increased costs of RM postage from October e.g. large letter <100g increased from £1.15 to £1.55, 34.7% increase; large letter 101-250g increased from £1.65 to £2.30 which is nearing courier costs for stuff up to 1kg.
If they continue like this then RM will be out of business before too long.
