So £300 for a fiver, pretty poor

BTW i see "Your Nectar Prices" are now available online too

You can earn additional points more quickly by purchasing 'Sainsburys Offer' items in the Nectar app - these are usually tailored towards products that you already buy - with maybe a few new ones added in each week - from what I've seen the additional points can range anywhere from 10 to 90 - and thats on top of the regular Nectar points you earn - so you don't actually have to spend anywhere near £300 to earn 300 points. As an example, I'm currently being offered 90 points if I purchase a specific pizza - which I usually buy anyway.

Not seeing this in my app but it's fine. 😁

I just spoke to nectar about it and their exact words was “it’s for a targeted group” so as far as they are concerned if you don’t see the offer then you won’t get the count up to Christmas offers as far as they are concerned. I didn’t get it either but I had it the last 2 years. Oh well

Are nectar points better than Tesco clubcard points? (edited)
    jon81uk's avatar
On normal purchases Nectar points are worse than Clubcard, as 500 points is only worth £2.50 with Nectar but with Clubcard its £5 or £10 if you redeem for a reward.
But Nectar offer a lot more bonus points so it can be easier to collect lots.

I just shop at aldi and just pick up promotion item or items that earn me nectar bonus points at sainsburys only , times are hard have to play it

If anyone is trying to collect more Nectar Points and have a some free time - Nectar Canvass is great Paid Surveys Online | Earn Free Nectar Points

I've earned over 92000 points since using it.
    JP84's avatar
Hi. Are the surveys quick to complete?
  6. gummby's avatar
Nectar is so unbalanced. Some need 300 points to get 1000. Other 1000 for 1000. Not sure this as hot as deal heat suggests. Last year I just got money off vouchers.
    gummby's avatar
Up to 241/3000. Gonna need to do better than that.
  7. Si1969's avatar
Just checked my app and got x3 collect 300 for 1000 points.

Its all relative at the end of the day. Due to increased costs my weekly shop is now about £40. Therefore I’m not gonna get anywhere near that target.

*tried to post an image of my Nectar goals via my mobile on the hotukdeals app, but cannot see any way to attach photos (anyone know how to do this on android?* (edited)
    jon81uk's avatar
Don't forget the bonus points count too, so its not just about the £40 but also the 50 points when you buy X.
I spent £7 yesterday but got 80 bonus points from two items, so thats a big chunk towards my 300.
  8. mutley1's avatar
does anyone happen to know if i can redeem my nectar points during the promotion? so if i redeem 500 points instore on purchases, will this mean that this will be deducted from my nectar points earned target for this promotion?
    kupon's avatar
No, redeeming points won't have any affect (although you will miss out on the 2 or 3 points you would have earned had you used any other method to pay). So, if your shop comes to £4.30, you would usually earn 4 points (1 per £). But, if you redeem 500 points worth £2.50, and pay the remaining £1.80 in cash, you will only earn 1 point.
  9. Cheap_as_Chimps's avatar
Had to update the app for mine to work

collect 1000 points to get 1000 points, won't bother

If you use the bonus points it works out better. I suspect reaching 1k on normal shops with bonus points very doable. Maybe I can reach 2k. 3k needs more work.

    Firstly they don't.
This is the list of the companies they share your data with:
    nectar.com/abo…ies

I work with similar data for another company and we use it to understand customer behaviours - simply speaking to know what to stock and when, to sell a specific product which works like advertising "50p off just for you". Also to make sure you don't go to competition - you spend less - better offers for you to come back. They can make way bigger money this way rather than selling it elsewhere - you also wouldn't want to do that - as you'd be revealing your secrets, which competition could access. Nobody cares if you are Steve Corbishley, you are a client 12345600 and that's all they care about.

Lastly, nothing stops you from using different email address and naming yourself John Smith - if you really believe in what you implying.

51319183-ABTRO.jpgLovely offer Anyway, in the offer before I can see that my first target is only 1000 points, but no idea how big the reward for that would be! (edited)
    Russ2626's avatar
This happened to me too. Update the app, then it works fine
  13. Dan26588's avatar
Nothing on my account. Does it matter how many points you already have, are these promotions account specific? 34,672 sitting in mine
    mutley1's avatar
no, i don't have many points and i don't have the offer either.
  14. Fonzy1910's avatar
Earning 3000 points in a little over 5 weeks seems steep! Not a chance that happens!

It was the same with the fruit and veg one. They wanted 100 portions each time to earn 100 bonus points and it was impossible without owning a field of horses.
    nutty_bandit's avatar
Buy cabbage or lettuce . It counts for like 6-7 portions alone
  15. DealStacker's avatar
Only had my account/app installed for 6 months plus and I have not got this promotion either! I did get the vegetable bonus point promotion recently so maybe its to do with that?

I have just updated the app via Google play manually and all that changed was that Sainsburys now mention that "your nectar prices" can now also be used online.

EDIT: Think I have found the answer that some people have alluded to in black and white here it's invite only promotion. (edited)
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
It's selected accounts only, but you don't need an invite.
We have it on 3 out of 4 accounts in our family without any invites.
I guess we're all opted out of marketing emails, might be why.
Most people seem to be eligible, sadly a few are not.
  16. Pcbnumber1's avatar
Nothing here. Live chat couldn’t find a reason and said to wait. Launched over a week ago though so I presume a bunch of us haven’t been included.
    gummby's avatar
If not included on day 1 I doubt you would be as it ends on 10th December.

I was not included last year.
  17. Lucifer_UK's avatar
why do they force us to use the app all the time?
    anwa23's avatar
    They like to collect data.
  18. Jock999's avatar
Most expensive supermarket so no thanks
    mjmurra's avatar
Between price matching some stuff to Aldi and their nectar prices, I think they're actually pretty competitive these days.
  19. 1966mcta's avatar
Are Sainsburys likely to do double up again?
    Hivanh91's avatar
    which.co.uk/new…lQw

Unlikely. They dropped it once they revamped the Nectar loyalty scheme stating they would concentrate on offering 'savings on groceries throughout the year' as 'not many people participated in the double up event'... bunch of liars and cheats just trying to gain better profits instead of offering shoppers what they want.
  20. kneale81's avatar
I got collect 300 points to get 1000 points. I do shop in Sainsbury’s (as well as Tesco, Asda and Aldi) but don’t spend £300 in a month, so pretty pointless for me. The fruit & veg challenge was much better.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Check your bonus point offers in the app. You could earn 300 points buying just 2 or 3 items. I have 200 points on cheese, 150 on grapes and 60 on milk. Hit the target spending less than a fiver.
  21. emmasea's avatar
Not on my app and I’ve just updated it - where is it please?
    johnkayley's avatar
I normally get these offers on a Friday when my app sort of resets all the offers
  22. trebor's avatar
Although my rewards are not as high, neither are my targets:

    Collect 200 points +500 points
    Collect 200 points +500 points
    Collect 200 points +1000 points

I have some points offers to earn 60 points on milk, which I will buy and some extra points on products I may not buy.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Quite generous, especially the last one.
I regularly get 200 bonus points on just a pack of cheese, that's a slam-dunk for the extra 1000 or £5 worth of points.

Title says Count Down To Christmas, promotion is Count UP To Christmas.
    dealpickle's avatar
Maybe it depends on whether you say you're going up to Sainsbury's or whether you say you're going down to Sainsbury's...

  24. gummby's avatar
I need to collect 3000 points. To get 3000 points.

I will need a miracle to reach 3000 points unless they start giving me 500-600 free points a week. From my offers maybe 250 this week. Maybe 150 from normal spending over 6 weeks. See what happens. Essentially a double up of points if you spend hundreds. Or use their free points.

    Progress 42/1000.

They are churning out £3 off if you do a smart shop spend vouchers from tills. (edited)

    Time to close Nectar account.
And reapply for a new one
  25. DaftDad's avatar
900 points for 3,000 points. That seems perfectly doable, buy a couple of the higher reward bonus point items 3 times and done
  26. empas79's avatar
Everyone who uses the app should get an.invite
    rectangularcuboid's avatar
Got nothing, updated the app as well.

still only have it on 1 of the 3 nectar cards i have
  28. archrivel's avatar
Just got 1589 points for a £82 online spend. (£12 voucher used aswell)
  29. jjmmww1's avatar
1st usually shop done 857 points earned so first one complete for collect 500 point and then half way though round 2. Should be an easy 22.50 nectar points at this rate
  30. SUPERCOOLWILLOW's avatar
not on mine still so guessing i aint getting it this year which is a shame
  31. hawke101's avatar
I managed to complete this in one shop! I already had a voucher for 1500 bonus nectar points if you spent £30 (might of been £40) on Tu clothing, there was also 25% off all Tu clothing at the time which was handy. I did a big shop and used all 12 of the Sainsbury's offers to bag the extra nectar points. Plus I had a "save £3 when you spend £30" voucher to put the 🍒 on the 🎂!

Hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas and looking forward to the New Year! 🎅🏿💰🚀51868021-XGD04.jpg
  32. blahblahblah1234's avatar
We have 2 Nectar cards (different card numbers) on the same joint Nectar account.
We get different offers and the same Count Up to Christmas promo on each card, so even better with twice as many targets to hit!
    andiron87's avatar
Yep, same here. I start with the lower one - 300 targets, then if there are any chances of completing the 1000 targets then will give them a go too.

Thanks for posting, just checked my Nectar account and this offer has been applied. It takes me ages just to get up to £2.50 Apart from food can this be used when buying fuel, don't have time to read (T&C)
  36. dealhunter6k's avatar
I wonder if points earned with the Nectar Amex will count as I easily earn 4000 a month on that
  37. jjmmww1's avatar
extra 3000 points don't mind if i do
  38. Grazz0r's avatar
Not the best unless you already use Sainsburys as your main store. personally I prefer lower prices in general (Aldi/Lidl) for the best savings.
    andiron87's avatar
Sainsbury's matching few hundred Aldi products and on top of that you can get offers
  39. barnehurst's avatar
Collect 200 points (ie spend £200) to get 500 points (worth £2.50) is pretty underwhelming
    RIP_RRP's avatar
200 points is actually pretty easy to get if you use sainsburys offers, some of mine are over 100 points for items I’d be buying anyway.

I agree though, £2.50 isn’t a great incentive to participate if you weren’t buying these things already. (edited)
