Requesting a PAC code from Pay&Go SIM

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has successfully ported in a PAC code and then ported out on a pay and Go SIM without topping it up?

Looking to port my 3 number to another 3 number (SIM only deal that's cheaper than renewing)

Thank you

Asda is usually the SIM of choice when that question gets asked on here, although it's been mentioned that when you request pac it sometimes doesn't work automatically so you could end up having to phone them for it if that's something you'd rather avoid.

(I had to phone them when I used asda to do a Lebara SIM dance last year)

    Edit.....forget Asda, thanks (edited)

Asda now requires a top up of at least £5.

Asda or Lyca used to be the lightfooted partners for the freebie double-port dance.
If Asda has developed flat feet maybe check if Lyca is shoulder-tap cut-in friendly
Archive at 07 Nov 2023 indicates Lyca is still shifting free sims but no indication if a topup is required for cut in

any confirmation on whether it is possible to still use asda to port numbers for free?
