"Budget" Smartphones

I'm looking for a new smartphone since my Redmi Note 9 is a bit long in the tooth and looks like it's been run over by a forklift truck carrying a palette of sandpaper. Incidentally, I don't have my forklift papers.

I'm keeping my eye on the site while doing a bit of research, but I know that there are some experts on the devices available at the lower price points on here, so I wanted to pick your brains.

My budget is somewhere in the £2-300 range, probably closer to the £2

Redmi Note 12 - There are three versions of this, and they're notably different with better chips in the Pro versions and an SD slot in the bog standard. It looks serviceable, might not last me 3 whole years though.

Samsung A34 - I don't really trust reviews of the big manufacturer's low-end devices, as they always seem to be skewed. This does seem like a decent device, though, and the extended support afforded by Samsung is a selling point

Samsung Galaxy A13 - Again, low-end Samsung doesn't really appeal, but the review sites all say this is a good phone under £200

OPPO A57s, 4+ - Chunky battery and Stereo Speakers, under £200, but only 4G

Other mentions, HONOR 70 Lite, HONOR X7, Honor Magic 5 Lite, Realme 9 (4G), Poco X5, Poco F4, IQOO Neo 6

Ones I missed, that you guys said I should look at (Thanks!): Samsung A54, Oppo A94 5G

So, I'm not sure what to go for - does anyone have any opinions?

Didn't see the Samsung A54 on your list though.

    Added to the list, thanks.

After work (and over the weekend), I might be able to add a bit more detail.

Didn't MrSwitch do a discussion thread of deals for phones around £250 might be some suggestions in there as well

I haven't figured out how to find discussion threads, there doesn't seem to be a search for them (on Firefox OSX)

Oppo do a 5g model for £199 at giffgaff, you have to add a £10 sim to your order but the phones are unlocked.

Ulefone Armor series, there's so many I lose track now, but just pick your required size and go from there.
