His argument seemed to be totally based on the need for internet connectivity and the disc drive I seem to recall rather than any other hardware specific issue. Obviously a concern to some, but not a deal breaker for the average punter I expect.
Currys are taking preorders from next week, I'd hazard a guess we're hoping to clear out remaining stock of the OG PS5 within the next few days in preparation for a launch mid December

It would be really bad from a sales perspective to release it in the UK after xmas. Yes they have to sell off old stock of old consoles but that didnt stop them with prior generations with having a overlap. They will just heavily discount the old models as every company does when it replaces a old model.
I'm going to guess later this month. I was planning on getting one myself and selling my launch PS5, but after some thinking, think I'm going to just hold out for the Pro

Nobody knows when it will be available. It will more than likely be available before the end of the year as it is now available in the US but it isn't guaranteed.
Once the PS5 Slim comes out, the market is going to be saturated with new/ 2nd hand "FAT" PlayStation 5s and that should drive the price down even further - I reckon it'll hit £350 before too long.
I have a PS4 Pro for now, it is ample for my current needs (bills are so damn high, I need to work nearly every day anyway) (edited)
I am only on a PS4 2013 model, only upgrading as finally there are some games that are PS5 only which i want that require me to upgrade. I am definitely very late to the PS5 party but i do feel this console generation due to the chip shortage in 2020 has been very slow to warrant the upgrade compared to other gens.
