Xbox or ps5

Looking to try and get into gaming more, always struggled to keep my attention on it with anxiety, but I want to try and use gaming to help me relax after work now.
Really can't decide between ps5 or xbox series x. Got a ps4 and a xbox one x already, both have rarley been played but plugged the xbox in tonight (was closest one to me) .
Really tempted to get one of the new consoles , but can't decide which one. Loved gran turismo when the original came out, not sure it its still the same . But do any the 2 consoles have any advantages disadvantage, of any games not going to be available on one?
Part of me feels the ps5 is better as harder to come by, but the xbox looks more powerful. Such a hard decision.

Xbox because game pass and more powerful than ps5. Ps5 of you want the single player exclusive games like god of war and Spiderman.

    Slightly more powerful is irrelevant.

I have both, but given a choice I’d get the PS5. Easier upgradeability, more exclusives and better streetcred.

What do you mean better upgrade ability? PS may have more exclusives but it depends if op likes them to make it better. And the last point is funny lol.

Both PS5 and Series X are great IMO, it all depends on the games. If you like God of War, The Last Of Us, Spiderman etc then I'd recommend PS5 but if you prefer Halo, Gears of War, Forza etc then I'd suggest the Series X.

You mention that you have a PS4 and Xbox One X that have rarely been played, I'd strongly recommend spending some time with those first, to give you a better idea of which new system suits you best, also most PS5/Series X games are out on PS4/Xbox One. Thinking it may save you money on buying new systems you may not use as often as you want. (edited)

The fact that the "etc" part of the sentence equates to nothing for xbox should tell you everything.

I think this largely comes down to game preference. I’m largely a PlayStation gamer, I do prefer mostly third person adventure / stealth and cinematic titles and the PS5 caters best for that. I do also have a much larger existing game library from the PS4 as opposed to the Xbox One.

If you’re not using your existing consoles a great deal, you could always pick up an Xbox Series S with 3 months of game pass for about £189/£199 to get a feel for where you currently stand with gaming. The game pass library will give you the option to dive in and out of games without much expense or commitment.

If 3 months down the line you feel that gaming isn’t for you anymore or it’s not helping your situation, there’s no great loss and it’s easily sold on. But if it works out for you it will be sub £200 well spent. It’s a great machine for the price. At this point whilst you dip your toes back into gaming honestly it may not be worth spending £400 plus on the PS5. Again no bias here as I use my PS5 a great deal more.

I have had both and always preferred my Xbox. Not 1 is better than the other it all comes down to personal preference.

    My advice;

The important one- are there any exclusives you really want to play. If so then you need to be choosing that console.

Which controller do you prefer. I personally don't like the PS controller as I feel like I'm having to stretch my thumb for the 2nd analog stick and it doesn't feel natural so longer sessions can be uncomfortable.

I prefer the layout of the PS but for the amount of times you see that I couldn't justify keeping it.

If you do play online what console do your friends have.

Do you want to play older games? Series X is backwards compatible but I think you can play digital versions of older PS games but I'm not sure.

All of the above should really be the only factors as gameplay wise they're both on par

Older games is a good point, as ps3 games can only be played through streaming on PS5, whereas OG xbox and 360 games are backwards compatible.

Get yourself a bible. I'm not joking. Will be the best purchase you make if you read it that is. All the best mate.

    Swings and roundabouts.
I swear by PS5, my brother swears by XBox.
I guess look at the titles that are only available on each console and go down that route eg I couldn't live without Final Fantasy
I also like the games I get monthly with PS+

Does PlayStation have something like gamepass? Struggling to find any ps5 stock now after black Friday. All seems to be this new slim one.

I have both (well last gen models). For me the Xbox always wins. It has better game matching, better party mode and in game chat. Granted I am viewing this from the last gen models, however the latest Xbox Series X is backward compatible (Although some would question the point of this) with a very large percentage of the previous 4 generations.
I absolutely hate the way the PS4 locks the device during updates or downloads - I don't know if they have resolved this on the PS5. The Xbox One X allows multitasking when downloading & updating, I am confident the Series X continues this trend.
Original controllers can be purchased that support AA batteries or rechargeable battery packs. Every original PS controller is a sealed unit - this is significant when you want to play a game without the wire and can't wait for it to charge!

I don't want to start a flamewar, as I mentioned I do own several different models of both PS4s & Xbox Ones. My kids mainly use the the PS4 for the VR and my youngest either watches Youtube or plays Fortnite on his Xbox One.

Think the PS5 will have sold out due to dropping for black Friday, its around £360 and there have been loads of deals with a game or 2 for around £400.
