Should both usb sockets on this wall socket work at the same time?

I moved in to a new place recently and they've got one of these in the living room. If I plug one cable in ti works fine, but two the charge keeps coming on and off:

The previous owner had the electric work done and there's warranty for it so I can get it sorted, but if anyone knows any otherwise...

If they work independently fine. Your probably hitting or exceeding the total output with 2 things. It probably doesn't support any fast changing PD or QC.

Do you have a better picture of the front. I can't quite make out the outputs. It looks like 5v 3.1 amps and total 15.5 or 16.5 Watts. Can you confirm?

Do you know what the actual devices your trying to charge need?

Look at the Apple chargers outputs or documentation for what they need.

Your always best to use the original manufacturer supplied charger as they support the correct charge modes. Or a good quality one that supports multiple charging standards, like Anker, Ugreen, Belkin or similar. But some of those don't support some of the Chinese brands fast charge modes like dart, voc, etc.

If you use one you get the max it says on the writing. If you use two then they normally give out half each which for modern phones won’t be near enough as it’ll be like 7w or something.

What are you trying to charge? Both should work at the same time but these things generally are not very beefy and if you're trying to charge say two phones the socket may not be able to provide enough current hence the on/off behaviour you are seeing

Yes two phones or like one phone and a ipad, or one phone and a power bank

I had asked about these before and the answer is that these sort of sockets provide very little power, so you would only get trickle charge.

Most of these sockets are the cheap ones that can only support one device on a slow charge. It was a great feature 10 years ago but not any more. A dedicated charger will do a better job; you can get one of the 100-120W ones that can do multiple devices simultaneously.

That's what switch mode power supplies normally do when they are overloaded. The text on it shows that it can only provide a combined total of 3.1 amps (15.5watts) between the two sockets, and your devices presumably require more.

There's not a lot of spare room in a double socket to fit a PSU so they tend to be limited current and and and a basic design, you are better off with a good quality plug in charger.
