Microsoft Rewards are making it less desirable

So Microsoft Rewards are becoming less generous and today it appears they have removed the bonus you previously retrieved for using the Edge browser. This could be the year I finally quit the daily routine!

Searches aren't working like they used to.

I would just spam all the related searches at the top to get my daily amount. Now it seems I have to actually type something in...

I can't be bothered to keep this up if that's the case. Got 63000 banked, I may have to retire.

ha that's exactly what I used to do. Another good one was to write "define ____" (insert any word) then spam all the synonmys

Worth 12 points circa 1p? Shut the door on your way out.

Yeah, but those 12 points can mean the difference between being able to redeem a voucher or not...

I think they’re messing around in the background, got my browser points this morning, last week it didn’t register any PC searches on the Bing app despite getting them via Edge.

I do agree they’re planning to nerf the scheme into the ground, just hope they don’t suddenly stop it all together though, my mid gen Series X refresh plan would be in tatters! (edited)

I just cashed in my points and got a £240 Amazon voucher it's getting to a point now where they're just reducing all the time (edited)

Good to know it's not just me. I read the X-Box app is going away soon too. Turning it off in some countries first.
All good things must come to an end.

I got the Edge points today as normal. Maybe they are A/B testing. Last week I had issues not getting the full points, freezing at lesser amounts.

are searches working properly for you? Both on my PC Edge browser and via android app, I'm hardly getting any points for my usual searches. I could search HUKD, then say, my bank, then The Atletic, then Amex etc and of all of those searches I'd probably get 3 points. It also seems that I need to wait at least 5 full minutes between each search otherwise I wont get any points.

It's got to the point where I probably have to do about 250 searches just to get the full 90 points on my PC

Oh, and on the xbox my daily achievement aren't tracking. for around 7 hours, so I cant claim the daily 5 (or is it 50) points.

Yep - I've noticed this too - there needs to be a longer gap between searches otherwise the points won't track. I guess that's to stop those automated search tools. However it's obviously having an impact on those "genuine" searches. It's at the point now where it's no longer worth the effort for me. (edited)

Well that does it - they have just wiped out 400k worth of points on me now:

Your Microsoft Rewards account has been suspended.
Our research indicates that you or your Microsoft Rewards account has engaged in one or more violations of the Microsoft Services Agreement, which may include, but is not limited to:
    • Maintaining multiple user accounts per household
    • Opening more than one user account per individual
    • Residing outside of the supported regions
    • Providing inaccurate account information, including your true first and last name, your complete and accurate mailing address, a working phone number and your email address
    • Using a service intended to confuse your true IP address or your location
    • Using a bot, cheat code, macro or other automated method to participate in Microsoft Rewards

Learn more about the Microsoft Rewards program

So lets go through these points shall we?
    • Maintaining multiple user accounts per household - erm well yeah there is more than one person in this house with a Reward account? Since when did that become a violation? I have 8 Xboxes so yeah I have at least 8 accounts?
    • Opening more than one user account per individual - actually no - 1 account per Xbox
    • Residing outside of the supported regions - Northern Ireland being part of the UK is actually supported
    • Providing inaccurate account information, including your true first and last name, your complete and accurate mailing address, a working phone number and your email address - This is silly - how else are my reward point purchased delivered?
    • Using a service intended to confuse your true IP address or your location - I don't bother masking my IP, especially when earning reward points
    • Using a bot, cheat code, macro or other automated method to participate in Microsoft Rewards - not for the past fortnight I haven't

Well that's a good hour of my life reclaimed, I don;t even think I'll bother challenging my lost 400k points. Sickening.

I'm curious did you just get this message out of the blue or when you tried to redeem?
Are all eight accounts blocked, or am I reading that wrong?
No allowing more than one person in a house seems a bit extreme and not very good for the environment!

Edge is slow and annoying anyway I think.

When the bots get updated let me know. Otherwise not going to bother as searches don't register.

I think that's the end of automated reward collection as they have set a limit on how many you can claim every 15 minutes! I certainly can't be bothered any more and I am sickened by the amount of points they have wiped out on me.
