Postcards - Sending Postcards from England to abroad. Normal stamps

I went to send postcards abroad. Is putting normal UK stamps on postcards fine to send abroad?

I'm sending an Xmas card (under 20g) to Germany and worked out that 2x first class stamps will cover it.

as long as you have enough stamps for the cost, then yes.

I thought you had to go to the post office and get a special stamp in order for it to be sent overseas.

    Will one stamp be enough?

Which stamp? Just one first or second class won't obviously be enough.

Many moons ago the postoffice used to give you a blue sticker saying 'by airmail' on it (to place beside your normal stamp).. prob not the case anymore, but that was the only additional thing when sending abroad.

It is still available at the post office, usually found next to the self service machine.
