Broadband with Landlines?!

Hi everyone,

I'm just looking for a broadband deal for my Dad.
Is it just me, or are broadband deals that include 'All Calls' land lines, very hard to find?
Almost no providers are offering this service, it seems?

Are they really fazing out landlines?

Cos they're phasing out copper phone lines... slowly heading towards voip- there's less and less offered in terms of deals. Saying that, even if you did opt for the latter, you can keep your landline number and existing handset as dad won't even notice the difference.

We upgraded to the voip phone just plugs into the WiFi box no difference. Only issue if power outage happens

The analogue phone service that's tied to your physical line is being switched off by major networks in 2025 so phone calls will become just another service delivered over the internet, no different from streaming video or e-mails.

So as it moves away from the ISP's core area of competence a lot of them are looking to get out of the market, or charging high prices to make profit off those customers that will keep the service with them out of inertia.

You may well be better off taking the cheapest broadband deal and getting a landline from a VoIP provider. They’re often cheaper anyways. It’s the way things are already going. Plus you can then switch broadband each year to the cheapest deal without ever worrying about moving the landline number again since your landline will always be provided by the same supplier regardless of your internet.

A&A is 1.5p per minute to UK landlines and £1.44 monthly line rental if not a heavy user of outgoing calls.

Vonage is probably best for heavy users. £6.99 for 1000 minutes.

Otherwise, you’re looking at providers who do digital voice now. BT and Vodafone are two such options. But you’ll pay separately for the landline to them too - You’ll not get them included as part of the deal anymore.

Vodafone for example is an extra £8 per month to add an anytime calling plan
