Sainsbury's smartshop

I used smartshop this afternoon and when I transferred my shop from the smartshop app to the self service till, I had to add on two single red pepper as you can't scan them with smartshop.

They should be the lower nectar prices as they are on my nectar prices account. However, they went through at full price.

Anyone experienced this before? That if you add an item after you transfer your shop, it doesn't recognise the nectar price?

Never had that but when buying single items like this look at the shelf strip in front of the item. There is a barcode for such single items to scan. Maybe didn't discount as no barcode scanned?

That's what I am thinking. I transferred the shop to the till, then I manually selected the red peppers to add to the shop. Maybe the smartshop doesn't recognise the manual addition from the till to give the discount. Next time I will scan the code on the shelf.

i recall getting some loose things and weighed them in that section and it made a custom price tag sticker for me in big sainsbury's whitechapel

For My Nectar Prices to apply you need to scan them with the handheld scanner (or the app). There is a barcode for loose peppers on the shelf edge and similar single items (garlic, limes etc).

Update - interestingly, I have just looked at my nectar account and there are refund vouchers for the purchase. Never came across that before.

They are automatically issued if the correct price doesn't apply. I have experienced this a few times since this feature started in 2022 IIRC. The problem is that you have to regularly log in to your Nectar account to not miss these vouchers because they are not applied automatically on the next shop.
