Surely they would scrutinise the purchase before buying a gift card for a large amount?
Page has been taken down! Personally if I was to not get a physical present I would give cash, cash is king... Everyone I would be giving cash to would appreciate it more than a gift card or a present any way - if you have friends that turn their nose up at cash (and say something like "oh you couldn't be bothered" - I say get better friends!)
