Can someone tell us when they gonna start discounting Christmas food?

Remember last year this site was flooded with photos of christmas food being heavily discounted. Just want to know when i need to set off and which supermarket is best?

Thanks.

Supermarkets have been ripping us off throughout the cost of living crisis making records profits along the way. Why should they help us now?

This is entirely dependent on each store's stock and will be at the discretion of the store manager.

My Waitrose did have very steep discounts on some ready meals today but that's probably because they are closed 2 days for Christmas. Checked across the road at Sainsbury's and there was nothing special; they are going to open on Boxing Day though unlike the last few years.

our sainsburys are always open on boxing day but waitrose and M&S food are always closed on boxing day.

Assuming that Christmas veggie could be free at Selected Asda super store from 27th as these are wrapped as Christmas Veggie atm and 15p deal ends on 26.

Had a look xmas eve last year and around here there's was very little discounted in a few main supermarkets. Most products seemed to have longer dates on them so were good on store shelves till way gone boxing day. Guess is depends on the store and area.

I would have thought a few hours before they close on Xmas eve. However if they have lots left, then it might be even earlier.

Our closest big Tesco had run out of a lot of stuff yesterday (Friday) and said there were no more due in. It would appear that they've ordered less this year.

The same from my closest big Asda. I noticed golden potato 2kg (50p) and turkeys have run out with no expected restock since Friday night. On my Saturday evening visit, there were still fresh ducks and loads of whole fresh salmons.

I'm eyeing the salmon, but given my freezer and fridge are both full, I'm not so keen. Then again, a tempting whopping drop-in price will force a storage reshuffle. I'll drop by later today for one more round, but the question is what time should I target :/ ?

I got some stuff yesterday at aldi with 75% discount. That's what you have a freezer for. Wont really be looking again till boxing day

they had discounted turkey at our sainsburys this week already. i find they don't tend to have discounts on christmas eve or after christmas at the supermarkets around here.

Does anyone know when the after chistmas discount begins (obviously after christmas) but what day.
In particular the biscuit tins, crakers, confectionary.
    TIA

ASDA and Tesco was no good today at 3pm. I walked to both.

    Salad bags
    Veg bags
    Some meat
    Coldslaw
    Yogurt
    All with about 40% off.
Tempted with a pack of pork chops for £2.50 but the amount of people around I couldn't be bothered.
Was not a big clearance section anyway and who wants to buy stuff out of date today.
All the turkeys and foods in the fridge section was full and well dated. A few areas empty or low stock. Still stuff there but I think supermarkets have the food sorted and don't overstock with short dates. They are aware.

agreed. I had to abort a few because the dates were like 1st or 2nd jan. It looks like some supermarkets must have cleared their christmas stuff, but there were some few others where i got lucky.

I got loads of stuff in Morrison's this afternoon at 90% off. They had already reduced the turkeys by 50%. By 2pm and were reducing them further , but I didn't want one

i was in sainsburys this afternoon about 2.5 hours before they closed and there wasn't anything discounted. shelves were still full (thank god!) and it was very busy.

Finsbury Pavement M&S was pretty good but the staff didn't seem to realise the enormity of the problem until the deep trolley loads of stuff taken from the shelves started to fill up the area behind the scenes. Got bored waiting for the smoked salmon so contented myself with 50p salads, 40p soups, 50p for 4 roast chicken breasts, 50p for half roast chicken and so on..................................

I visited Aldi, Lidl and Tesco between 3pm and 4pm. The only reductions I could find were a few sorry looking bags of salad and bread with 30% off.

Christmas Eve discount shopping isn't what it used to be

I got about £120 of stuff for just under £20, but it wasn't all particularly Christmas stuff. I wasn't actually after Christmas food so I'm happy enough.

Aldi SEL were 50% off lots of xmas food that had near dates, then anything with the 26th on had an extra 30% off. There was a guy trying to put 75% stickers on stuff but he was moving slowly through the veg section and most stuff was flying off the shelves anyway so couldn't be bothered to hang about.
