Best pound to performance Monitor?

Hi, just purchased a new pc for my daughter. Decent gaming machine with a RTX 4070 graphic card (with HDMI 2.1 out).

Looking for a monitor that can compliment the machine well, so will need HDMI 2.1, a minimum of 144hz and 27" screen. Probably going to game in 1440p so monitor will have to meet each of these requirements. Would really appreciate any advice from those of you in the know

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
StoneyWales.

I've not checked the monitor scene since I got mine last year but this YouTuber always gives extremely good premium/budget options and deeper individual reviews.

Definitely looking at least £250+ and that might be an under estimate.

I went for the dell s2721dgfa because I managed to get it cheaper, most budget options are still monitors that would have featured in my search this time last year unsurprisingly.

Branded or not branded & how much money might help.

HDMI 2.1 is only necessary if the screen has the features it adds, and most of those relevant to a monitor were already provided by DisplayPort.

If you're not then It will not affect current or future compatibility in any way.

In my limited knowledge I thought Id need a hdmi 2.1 on a monitor to make the most of the RTX 4070 (with hdmi 2.1 out).

I guess I want a monitor to meet 1440p, 144hz, minimum 27" and which can be utilised to make the most of the RTX 4070.

I'm not too bothered about being branded to be honest, but if the cost is minimal in increase happy to pay a little more for a reputable brand.

In relation to budget, I guess a minimum of a few hundred will be required, hence the best pound to performance aspect.

    Thankyou for your response though

If it is going in a bedroom & and she will be using HDMI I would be considering a good TV.

    Just a suggestion. (edited)

Why do you want hdmi 2.1? Monitors use display ports mostly for gaming that can go much higher than 144hz, you dont really need hdmi 2.1 thats more a tv thing.
Most newer monitors do come with hdmi 2.1 but just use display port, the reason modern graphics cards now have hdmi 2.1 is so lile me you can use a large tv as a monitor with 120/144hz (edited)

Thanks for that, I genuinely wasn't sure around display ports. Sounds ignorant I know but I haven't been into pcs for over a decade, VGA were a thing back then
