Looking to buy a laptop

Looking for some advice on buying a laptop as looking to learn a new skill into coding by following some courses on udemy but unsure about what type of laptop I need my budget would be around £500-600 but unsure if this is enough but looking for advice on what laptop you would suggest something that allows upgrades in the future I.e. I can add ram later or increase the storage. Thanks in advance

Any laptop will be fine for coding, you don't need to buy anything powerful. Get one with a good display, good battery life and decent keyboard. I'd go with a Lenovo Thinkpad, great keyboards. Plenty of good used Ex-Corp ones on ebay

Writing requires nothing except a keyboard you get on with.

Some programming can require more. For example if you're coding for a different device then you may want to run a virtual machine of it for easier testing of the code. That's dependant on the project.

So if you're happy with your current device then I would stick with it until you have a hard requirement for more power.
