Best way to use mobile in South Africa

Hello,

Looking for some advice, going South Africa in November for 4 Weeks, phone contract is with 02 and they charge £6 a day to use text/minutes whilst over there, will be needing to keep in contact with Family whilst over there and I'm wondering whether anybody has any tips/ideas to bring the cost of this down or what others have done in similar situation. Had a quick google and thought about getting a sim on a different network but seems to be getting back to the daily charges which are all of a similar price once you go out or Europe. Any suggestion would be appreicted.

Thanks in advance.

Just got back from holiday in Thailand myself and used an eSIM while I was there, got the eSIM from TUI and it was g8, cost around £20 ish and gave me unlimited data and calls for 15 days…Voda wanted £6 odd a day to use my inclusive minutes, their greed is gunna push ppl away from them.

Just look for a eSIM for South Africa on Google and see wat it brings up. (edited)

You could try.... buying a South African SIM card.

Check on TripAdvisor. I heard good for getting advice and tips on this sort of thing

Just pick up a sim when you get there.

I used Airalo e-sim in South Africa last year, all setup before I went, worked flawlessly. Saved me so much.

Drop me a DM if you want a link that gives you a discount.

Thank you for the responses. Looking like eSim is the way to go as I want to get it sorted before going.
