I had a gas fire and back boiler. The pump was for the radiators, it stopped working so I had to have a combi boiler fitted, they removed the gas fire and back boiler but left that in place but said I could block the box off now."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/51967913","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"AWard911"},"datePublished":"2024-01-12T16:12:39.000Z","text":"As others have said that is a circulation pump....normally fitted when you have a system boiler to circulate water.
If you've had a combi boiler fitted then this would be redundant now. I imagine its been left in as considered too much hassle to remove it by whoever fitted your combi.
There may be some residual water left in the pipework. The other picture is what looks like a water isolation valve.
The other brown round objects are old bakelite junction boxes used for connecting electrics and probably for providing power supply to the pump. They should be checked with a multimeter or similar to ensure that there is no voltage present in case someone has left them connected in circuit still."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/51967728","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"TheUrbis"},"datePublished":"2024-01-12T15:47:26.000Z","text":"Would imagine these are left over from an old central heating system."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/52069475","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Victoria_84"},"datePublished":"2024-01-25T21:46:53.000Z","text":"My husband checked and no electric going to it and he cut the pipes out so now Just need to tidy it up. I have a combi boiler and I don't have a separate pump.
Wonder if it's a pump for the shower room. With a standard boiler (non combi) if you have a valve type shower you are likely to need one."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/51967936","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Azwipe"},"datePublished":"2024-01-12T16:14:33.000Z","text":"I have one of these, as stated above it's a leftover from before the combi boiler."}],"commentCount":16,"interactionStatistic":7,"articleSection":"Ask"}
