No cold calling signs

I am sick of people coming to our front door cold calling. I want to stick a big sign up to deter them.

What do you suggest is an effective looking sign as there are quite a few on the internet? I need one that I can print out.

Irrespective of affiliation, political campaigners can't read any notice that says no cold callers or junk mail.
The one group that really honours the system are the JW. To the point they never come back. I think it goes in a book.
Tv licencing are another group that don't believe they are in the wrong, and it took a few nasty words and the door slammed in his face to get rid of the last one

I have "No Cold Callers" sticker on my letterbox from ebay. That stops the majority of chancers.

I have this one, it mostly deters the cold callers

Just don't answer the door. If you're expecting a delivery you'll know when it is due or just look out of the window beforehand.

I have a No Cold Callers Sign that was given to me by the local Police. I do occasionally still get cold callers and answered the door once and pointed to the sign and the salesman still took no notice, so I reported him to the Police they came round and said he was "only trying to do his job!" I told the Police their sign says he would be prosecuted if he ignored it. They asked for a description of him and said they would have a word with him if they see him. I told the Police who he worked for and that they should tell that business not to send their sales people to households with No Cold Callers Signs.

Businesses should be fined if their Sales people ignore the Cold Callers Sign.

In the UK any member of the public can come knock on your door. However, a clearly marked “no trespassing / private property” sign could serve to indicate the general public is not allowed on that property. So unless you have your "No Cold Callers Sign" at the perimeter of your property they would have to come to your front door to read it...

A succinct informational notice will suffice:
    The Mutley residence
should be enough to deter even the most emboldened of doorknockers.

I wonder if putting up a sign to say beware of the dog with a picture of an Alsatian will work.

I haven't had more than a couple of door knockers a year for decades.

Are you sure you are not on some sort of scammers mug list?

we live in an area where there are vulnerable people, like loads of OAPs, so our area is a target for people to take advantage of the elderly. as we are home often during the day, we have to face these people more than if you went to work and wasn't at home as they tend to go around during the day time rather than evenings.

What you want is a recording of a large vicious sounding dog barking, growling and scratching at the door hooked up to a PIR, would probably give most cold callers second thoughts.

I sent off for ones from some police authority (I’ll look it up later). Basically says unless you’ve been invited then please do not proceed further.

    Here you go

Probably other county councils do the same (edited)

I put a "no cold call" sign as I was plauged, however it doesn't stop them knocking! I have seen a few stop and read the sign and walk away, but the majority just knock any way and some even rap on my window. I have learnt to just ignore them and not answer the door. I get everything from political canvassing to tinkers, gutter cleaners and hedge trimmers.

Ha. That reminds me. The last one that knocked on my door was someone cleaning next doors gutter & told me mine needed doing.

Funny that because mine was cleaned the week before & the guy that cleaned it showed me the before & after video he made proving it was squeaky clean. You should have seen his face when he knew he was rumbled as a con artist. Some people have no shame.

Sign "Unless you have a licence to trade and/or an appointment to call please leave immediately or you will be shot as a trespasser" I much prefer though to say this with my shotgun in hand rather than put up a sign.

Stick a sign up saying HUKD mutley1 lives here.. That should solve it

I find that a large intimidating dog wandering around the garden helps.

I thought about getting a sign, but it's usually pretty easy to tell the difference between cold callers and delivery drivers, even through the patterned door glass. Cold callers usually knock and step back a pace or two, whereas delivery drivers tend to stand their ground. Of course I sometimes get caught, like just after Christmas when we've had deliveries most days for a few weeks and no cold callers. Last week it was EE trying to flog me broadband.

It probably deters some but I answered a few at my mum's (she has the No Cold Callers sticker just above the letterbox) when it was COVID lockdown and she'd had surgery on her calf (so I was the designated door opener, or maid ).

One memorable one was a VERY pushy Octopus Energy representative who wasn't put off at all when I said it wasn't my property and I was looking after my mum. Had to shut the door on him!

Mum has no time for cold callers on phone or in person, she just says "NOT INTERESTED" and slams the door / slams the phone down (I'm a bit more polite). (edited)

we had someone knocked on our door when we lived at out previous house pretending to be from the convict rehabilation program wanting to sell us kitchen cloths. my husband said he wasn't interested and the guy got angry at the way my husband had told him he wasn't interested. he threatened to come back later with his mate and sort us out.

Door bell camera or CCTV by the front door, if you are not expecting a delivery or visitor do not answer.

yeah, if they continue to call, i will have to put in a smart door bell so i can speak to them through the camera only but they sometimes knock on the door instead of pressing the door bell (edited)
