Does your passport number change pre and post renewal?

So will my passport number change, if I renew it?

I booked a flight and entered my passport number in last week. Over the weekend I applied for my passport renewal. Now I'm worried if my passport number changes and I will have to pay a fee to amend my flight details.

Passport number update on your ticket has no fee. (edited)

O'leary would charge for passing wind if he thought he could get away with it.

Pretty sure it's free to change via website as long as you haven't checked in. Not sure what happens after but guess you'd need to call anyway

TUI tried to charge me as the counter mixed my partners first name and last name.

Took several calls to explain it's not my fault if you can't copy details from her driver's licence properly. (edited)

Your new passport will have a different number but you can easily update your details with the airline. They usually ask for expiry/ issue date too , so that will be different as well.

I doubt even Ryanair would charge for this. Your passport information is regulatory and is used by other airlines/countries to ensure you can travel and aren't on some blacklist etc.

If they do charge, I would be very surprised.

I would definitely NOT be surprised if they charged for this!

I'm trying to work out why anyone would book a flight and then renew their passport. Why not wait until after trip or renew in good time prior to booking? But I've mentioned this many times on HUKD (edited)
