I'd be looking at the MX4200/AX4200 as those are tri band and can be had cheap on eBay. Many are community fibre branded but easy to flash to OEM firmware.

    Some info on the differences:

This is exactly what I'm using, some community fibre branded ones I grabbed off ebay. I have 2 of them connected via wired backhaul.

They're brilliant. I have gigabit internet and my wireless speeds are typically around 700mbit/s all around the house. Even through a solid brick wall I still see around 500mbit/s. For my purposes they do the job. I can even use wireless streaming from my PC via sunshine/moonlight which is very dependent on having a good wireless setup, works perfectly.

I'm considering getting a 3rd as a dedicated AP just for streaming to a Quest 3.

These are really fast Wi-Fi access points, I have two and even with wireless backhaul I can get my full broadband speed from the second hub at 520Mb/s. Gaming though this with really low latency too. Been very solid and reliable too.

Just looking around and came across this thread. I've currently got the Google Nest WiFi system installed but wanting to move to WiFi 6, have been holding out for the TP-Link XE75 Pro triple pack as I read good things about that setup.

Would these MX4200 bought from eBay and flashed offer me a similar experience does anyone know?

    Thanks

I installed some xe75 pros yesterday and there solid. Max download speed across the house, down the garden and down the road for a bit as well

Be aware that the advertised price is for the dual band and not the tri band shown in the photo. There is no backhaul on this one as far as I know as I have three of them.

Mx5400 are tri band and do Wi-Fi and Ethernet backhaul.

I have two of these in my cupboard from my ISP. They couldn't quite reach from upstairs to downstairs which meant I had several dropouts and the didn't handle handovers too well.

Everything is now CAT6 round the house, with Unify APs in the loft and downstairs, all connected to the Unify Dream Pill.

For most people this is completely overkill, and I suspect these will work well enough for most people. But for those of you who want the best, run cables and put dedicated APs round the house.

£249 for the pack of three not a bad deal, either.

excellent price , but beware if you wanted to upgrade to velop pro cognative mesh nodes in te future the intelligent mesh devices cannot be added as nodes to each other ,why Linksys decided to this is a mystery

Really good piece of kit. Bought this during black Friday and it's been solid. The mobile App is painfully slow though but once it is setup, you don't need to use the app again

got a brand new one from cash convertors for £65 missed out as there was some for £45 I would look around CEX and places but soiled units as had the BT mini ones before and these are much better.

Anyone got a walk through guide how to flash original firmware on the community fibre nodes, I've been gifted 2 and want to put original firmware on it?
