S24 ultra - steps to replace

Now that a bunch of us have placed orders for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, how are people preparing to replace their current device?

The smartswitch will transfer all data including photos
All apps will not get transferred fully? for example if there are authenticator apps or related to banks, they will have to be re-registered on the new device?
How to register the new device with authentication for the likes of Amazon and gmail/other emails etc?

Step 1 for me - save settings for Nova launcher into the cloud so that the layout can be replicated.

Step 2 - use Samsung Smart Switch app to move almost everything. Besides, you can reinstall stuff once you log in to Google Play store.

Authenticator apps now sync, so you just have to log in to them again, as also all banking / other apps. (edited)

I am guessing, hold on to current/old device until all apps are logged on the new device - 'A new device has logged in' approvals will go to older device?

That is standard practice. I usually specify delivery of the new phone on Friday for that reason as it gives me 2-3 days to get it right.

I need to try figure out how to do the authenticator apps too. Last time i didnt transfer it and i was locked out some of my accounts

Most apps have a transfer to new phone option. Make use of it if they don't transfer automatically.

Make sure you back up your Google, WhatsApp as this makes things easier. As others have said retain your old phone as it will be needed/ make things easier to transfer. Especially banking apps.
I have far too many apps on my phone and should use this as an opportunity to do a clean up, but probably won't!
