Trip to Aus

Hi there, can anyone please give some pointers on booking a budget trip to AUS Melbourne around Oct/Nov time for 4 people 2 under 12

Dates and amount of days are not fixed cost depending, ideally 10-12. Can fly from anywhere in uk mainland. Would need flights, accommodation, car hire.

What else do I need?

Many thanks

If you can, fly west bound all the way round the world, its less knackering with the time zone changes but less flights available. If you can't do a round the world, then west out, east back. Again if you can, a 24-48 stopover in LA/SF helps. Research best seating for rest. SeatGuru. 10-12 days is a short trip to Aus, so you want to arrive in the best shape possible. Drink gallons of water and little alcohol. The rest is the usual trawl of the internet booking sites.

Perhaps you could do some research using Skyscanner, TripAdvisor and Kayak to tell HUKD community what you have found, and then it can try to beat your best effort?

Thanks for the comments, right I’ve done some research and found flights for about £680 per person, accommodation for just over £1000 for 12nights and car for around £620. Thanks

Thats seems extremely cheap for accommodation, is that a hotel ? (edited)

    look at rentalcars.com .

also I don’t know if it’s still true, but I always learnt, travelling on a Wednesday was cheaper

Mon evening - Thu morning is usually cheaper. Even the recent Etihad sale required outbound and return to be Mon - Thu.

Use Skyscanner or Google flights for flights. Booking.com for accommodation then just Google car hire comparison and you'll get plenty of results

    Getting to the important stuff:
    Tim Tam Slams!

(Tim Tams are similar UKs Penguin biscuits. The Tim Tam Slam doesn't work with penguins - however Aldi's knock-off (Seals) work well)

10-12 days doesn’t seem worthwhile as you spend so much time travelling, also the lag. Assuming this isn’t a visit to family trip had you thought about somewhere closer to home?
