Sensible gift ideas for a 100yr old woman.

My nans cousin turns 100 on April 1st.
I go and see her almost every week to make sure she's ok and cut her garden for her when it needs doing.
I should imagine her family will be pulling out all the stops with a newspaper from her day of birth etc so I'm just after suggestions really.
Thanks all.

I know it might be a colossal pain in the hoop logistically, but could you get her out to a nice cafe/hotel for an afternoon tea? Me and my partner did that for my great-grandmother-in-law and I think she appreciated it more than any other present she got.

If she’s bedbound or struggles to get out, how about a magazine subscription - puzzles, gardens, wartime memories etc. I get one of those for my elderly mum each birthday and she loves it. I think it only ever costs about £25 with magazines direct too. And as you’ve thought about it, it usually resonates nicely “oh you remembered I like Sudoku” etc.

Finally, if you want something unusual, there’s a website called Cameo where you can buy a specially recorded video greeting from a celebrity. Unless they’re very famous they’re often not too expensive and older celebrities that might have been a favourite of your nan’s cousin will likely be reasonable. For example Jordan Rudess, one of the great prog keyboard players of all time, will do you a three minute video playing a classic music piece for £50: cameo.com/jru…90b

Regardless, send our congratulations. Hope I get somewhere close to that age. Amazing achievement

Tbh, her daughter and son-in-law and 2 grown up grandkids in their 30s will be doing all of that with her I imagine.
    She is still active.
Actually was still driving until last summer when her car failed MOT and they couldn't get a part for it.
    Decided to stop then.
We do jigsaws together so maybe I could think of something around that.
    Thanks for the suggestions. (edited)

What about a memory/picture book with words, etc. It might take a while to make but I'm sure she'd love it.

    I didn't know that existed.
    Thank you.
    Will look into that.

Her family will no doubt be sorting out the telegram she will receive on reach 100. Possibly best to speak to them for some ideas as you won't want to be duplicating gifts.

She must have been so delighted with it.

Just in case anyone is interested when you reach your 60th wedding anniversary you also can apply to be sent a card from the King and Queen.

100 wow that's some milestone! Imagine all she's seen in her life... like how much technology has came on, nobody ever to live now will see as much as her.
My mams 68 and she even said how much has changed in her life time from cars, to phones etc
I'm probably one of the last if not the last generation to see a huge step on technology (80s child).
Hope she has a great birthday

    Yeah same here. Born '82.
My mams 68 too funny enough.
When I go to hers she's told me before how she was in London on VE day outside Buckingham palace celebrating and how she was helping out during the war etc.
Incredible the changes she has lived through.

This is how it looks to anybody that's interested.
(I erased her name off the telegram if wondering why it's blank)
    *She loves it.

    peleton (plural peletons)

[18th Century] (obsolete, rare) A small pellet or ball. Not sure she'd benefit from a small pellet or ball tbh.

Neither did I, kind of made that up. But seriously, you can get involved and see that these things get organised, they might not happen automatically.

As for the frame, just research the dimensions of the 'Telegram' assuming it's a thing, and arrange for it to be professionally framed.

Take her out for a tea and cake? Maybe a walk around the flower gardens if you have any locally (or garden centre next best thing!) .. just some time walking/ seeing/ chatting.
