PVC Wall Tiles - cloakroom

Our cloakroom is tiled about 4 rows just around the sink area, the issue is the paintwork below is starting to bubble due to water from the tiny sink.

Instead of completely re- tiling all the lower half of the cloakroom I was thinking to keep the nice tiles and just add PVC wall sheets to complement the tile colour. Has anyone tried this or is it better to remove the existing tiles and start over?

Thanks

    Either I guess.

Tiles are cheap. Maybe remove sink before tiling

I’ve done this in a few places. Maybe do a cardboard cut out if you are new to working with sheet materials.
Grab adhesive and silicone, you’re away.

Is there any reason that you can't sand and repaint the paintwork below? I appreciate that I may have misunderstood the question but you do refer to paintwork bubbling.

I could do, but I assumed it would just keep happening as the paint work is not waterproof, so I was trying to figure out the best thing in the long run..
