Claiming back uniform cleaning costs, how far can I go back?

Hi everyone. I've been working in my current job where I have to wear a uniform. I work in the transport industry, and I've been working in the job since 2019 October.

Can I claim back each year?

I know people on here tend to be pretty savvy but there are scams online charging to set this up. No need.

What if you have to buy your own clothes ie shirt and trousers. Can you claim as expenses?

The phrase to consider with expenses is 'wholly and necessarily incurred for your work'. So PPE can be claimed for, cleaning of a required work uniform is good, but claiming for a generic shirt and trousers is not.

If it was a highly specific shirt (perhaps with company logos or similar on it) and the company wasn't paying for it themselves (which would be very unusual) then yes you could claim as expenses.
