Advice on a Start-up business

Hi to all,
Me and My friend are looking to start a business, particularly a domiciliary caregiving service, But we have no clue on where to start - (No not that registration and basic stuff with Gov.uk) But on where to reach for getting clients, we tried to reach out our Local council, and citizens advice bureau but they were of zero help! would love to speak to someone already in such a business,
Thanks in advance

I would reconsider going into business with your friend. Also depending on your location you may need to start small and use word of mouth to promote your business. Placing ads in local businesses might help.

Part of starting a business is knowing your market, size of it and how to target it.
Have you done any research? put together rough numbers?

in order to start a business, you need to have experience in it first. so unless you or your friend do this for a living, then forget it.

Not necessarily true - plenty of stories of people with no experience of a particular industry starting a business and doing well.

People usually advertise in local jobcentre / Facebook to employ someone directly for care at home etc.

I'm taking it you have researched the local going rates etc and calculated everything out so you can be competitive. It's the type of business you need to start small and keep growing by word of mouth etc.
Don't forget the huge amounts of paperwork you will need for everything, and appropriate training for everything.

Eg. You may have to start by providing respite at home for a few hours etc. (edited)

I work in the care sector in Scotland, and is this type of service would be regulated, I would imagine. Which would require having appropriately trained and qualified staff, which is not the case here. Unless you were only planning on running the business and hiring experienced staff, then I don't see this working at all (edited)
