Yes this has been reported by news outlets. Also being reported is undersea data cables in the Red Sea have been cut ... I wonder if the two things could be related
Apparently the cables may have been caused by an anchored ship that drifted 45 miles in a path over the cables. Unlike the Shetland Islands

I deleted my account a month ago. Too many lost cats & missing parcels & I found myself taking offense on behalf of people I didn't even know.

Yup, just one or two issues at the moment...
I have to admit the way it went also got me thinking I had been hacked. That is probably more worrying than it being offline. I don't mind missing the constant stream of ads and recommendations, what I do mind is someone posting on my behalf.
The water was cut off in my town for about 8 hours & Tesco & all the shops were out of bottled water within the first couple of hours, even ice cubes were gone. Everyone was posting on facebook there was no water left & how irresponsible & selfish people were being after spotting the empty shelves. The funny thing is they obviously went to buy bottled water themselves.
I thought about getting a T-Shirt made up with the words "I survived the great drought of June 2021" & on the back "from 9AM to 5PM" & then below Water Aids Telephone number with "donate £2 a month" although it would probably only me that would find it funny.

My password is over 150 characters long, so I knew it was doubtful my account had been hacked.
If your password is "over 150 characters long" that has only got 21 characters........
It is global for Facebook, Meta, Instagram.
I only use FB for the Marketplace, quit the main FB a couple years ago, didn't see any benefit of it. Edit to say was a big user of it since when it started. (edited)
