Moving to the UK

My wife and I are moving from the US to the UK this summer and I was curious if there are any valuable deals/things to know ahead of time. For example, we’ve had Paramount+ (no ads; including Showtime) for the last 2 years and have never paid for it once; there’s always a free monthly code and if you wait to cancel right before renewal they’ll give you 2 more months free. Another example is, my wife works in the medical field and gets various discounts such as 40% off Brooks shoes (she’s looking to work through the NHS).

There are free trials for online streaming services but I’m not sure you’ll be able to access ongoing free trials as you currently are. Some other contracts/services include access to steaming services such as mobile contracts and TV packages (Sky, Virgin etc).

Your wife can sign up to Blue Light Card and Health Service discount schemes once she finds employment.

You can both sign up for cashback programmes such as TopCashback and Quidco.

Most of the supermarkets have loyalty schemes, Asda is a rewards app, Sainsburys/Morrisons/Tesco have a card that gives members cheaper prices. There is also Costco if you like to shop in bulk.

Mobile phone contracts here are much cheaper here but it can still work out better value to buy a handset and then get a sim only contract. Also shop around - you can get good cashback deals on sites like mobiles.co.uk (I’m currently paying just over £7 for unlimited minutes/texts and 100gb data inc 5G after cashback). Whatever mobile provider you go with will also likely have a rewards app that you can access discounts/freebies.

You can use price comparison sites such as uSwitch and CompareTheMarket for utilities, insurance etc and they usually offer incentives.

If you like eating out then there are often promotions/deals available for everyone (Tastecard, Meerkat meals, sign up to newsletters, download the apps) and lots of places give discount for NHS workers too. Also look for sign up incentives via UberEats, JustEat etc if you use those types of services as they’re generally easy to come by.

NHS get loads of perks and benefits, probably best looking on Google as there's so many.
One example was 10% in certain supermarkets with your blue light card. Access to warehouse memberships etc

Join Airtime rewards to get money off your mobile (cell) phone bill, when you purchase through retailers in store and online.

Re: Paramount Plus in particular, it's probably worth keeping your US sub if you can, and using a VPN or DNS, etc to continue viewing. The UK service only streams in HD rather than 4K. That kind of distinction is fairly unusual however.

Statistically in the UK, there is a higher chance of getting knifed than getting shot, God forbid. (edited)

You're moving to a new country and your first thought is about what deals are available for streaming services.

    I like your style!

You would be best trying to keep going with your methods of doing this, until they catch on that you are in the UK now
