Hosting own domain for email only?

Hi all

I own a .com domain. The domain is used by my entire family (11) for emails only. They each have their own email address at that domain. I do not have and do not need a website at the domain.

I currently pay a UK hosting provider £70 annually for webspace and for 2GB per mailbox.

As I do not really need the webspace, I was wondering whether there are any providers that allow me to use my own domain for email purposes only without having to pay for webspace I do not need?

Any recommendations are much appreciated.

You can set it up so it will work with GMAIL accounts for free, 15gb mailboxes (that share the size with your Google Drive). All you need is access to email redirects to any mailbox

    Here's mine for instance:

I'll let you know how to do this for you if interested - just don't want to go through the effort if it's not haha, feel free to let me know. (edited)

Have a look at Namecheap, I think I currently pay less than half that and have 6 mailboxes - I don't think it's much extra for more mailboxes.

Another option is Cloudflare which usually has minimal / no markup on domain names.

There's a lower-cost alternative for the unlimited StackCP web&email service from the previously mentioned lifetime-for-£49.99 reseller:
    one-off £10 for 5 years hosting.

Besides the unlimited number of 10GB mailboxes and associated email features/services,
you would be able to host as many domains, sub-domains and websites as you wish and have access to inclusive auto script installers, templates, SSL certificates etc - basically a complete featureset of tools, facilities and services for a web-experimenter or business operator.
Example £10 for 5-years product: eBay item 116075587108

If you want to step away from google etc, there are pay for options, which are more privacy conscious, such as Proton Mail, which will accept your mail, without additional costs.

Standard free 15GB Google/Gmail account customised to send/receive(via fwd) for each e-address.
    Assumes you're OK with possibility of Google randomly stopping access to a specific a/c for any reason Google chooses - same as any other G a/c;
    or
one-off payment between £20-£50 (depending what day of week it is) for lifetime unlimited web&email hosting inc unlimited number of individual 10GB mailboxes from credible long-standing (40+ years) small UK limited company.
Assumes you're OK with continued longevity of the small ltd co - same as any other small ltd co offering a service.

Both options still require cyclic renewal/payment for domain.

Google? Never. I dare not even utter that damned company's name. Forever a mass industrial data harvesting lump of evil.

You could have a look at this - ebay.co.uk/itm…115

Currently £49.99 for lifetime unlimited mailboxes.

I bought about 6 months ago after it was recommended on here, and it's been great so far.

    Just for info:
that is the one-off payment lifetime unlimited web&email hosting provided by the small UK ltd co mentioned few posts back at
    hotukdeals.com/com…306

Price yo-yos between £20 & £300 depending what price-promo the marketing-savvy eBay business seller is pushing at the time.

Service is based on a resell of the rock-solid StackCP product offered by 20i:
    20i.com/

Only two reservations with the resell but likely not a deal-breaker for all but the most critical applications:
    support seems to be exclusively a one-person affair;
obvious concern if the long-standing ltd co or its operator(s) cease trading or become incapacitated.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I also came across UK2.net who seem to be ticking a lot of the right boxes.

I recommend using the FREE service available from Zoho with your domain name. Since you have 11 family members, you will be on their paid tier. (edited)

Would the 20i free web hosting when you buy or transfer in a domain work for the email boxes required here. Interested as Id like to do something similar?

    Thanks

Interesting. I just need to get my head around the idea that it is actually free hosting. I mean nothing is free in life, is it? (edited)
