Pcie to sata port expansion card

Hi I'm looking to put a 4 port one in my PC. There seems to be 2 popular chipsets... Asmedia and Marvell. Does anyone have any experience with these cards, and have a recommendation? Many thanks.

I had one many years ago. i think it was ASM chipset. No idea about the difference between chipset though.
We moved to SSD these days, what do you need extra sata for?

You do know a lot of SSDs are still SATA? - even the M.2 drives can still be SATA underneath. (edited)

Marvell are certainly very common at enterprise level - but like most providers they have good and bad components and cards.

Main thing I’d suggest is check it’s compatible with windows 10 or 11 as older chipsets in cheap eBay cards may only have drivers for older windows. Other thing is check the speed.
