Lists of the Best VR Games

I thought I'd put together a discussion on lists of the Best VR Games. There's a balance to be struck between accessibility (fun to play casually) and depth (e.g. long stories), so there's no one 'best game'. Lists are often complimentary about the same games.

Games frequently mentioned for casual entertainment include Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Walkabout Mini Golf and Superhot VR. More campaign-focused games include Half-Life: Alyx, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Red Matter.

OpenCritic: opencritic.com/bro…est - both Quest and PC VR listings
Unfortunately for many games, Metacritic/OpenCritic doesn't manage to have enough reviews to summarise their scores (VR is somewhat niche).

I tend to listen to the preferences of dedicated VR sites:
roadtovr.com/best-quest-psvr-pc-vr-games-thanksgiving-2023/ - best VR games (all platforms)
roadtovr.com/top-oculus-quest-games-100 - best Quest games
uploadvr.com/best-vr-games/ - best VR games (all platforms)
uploadvr.com/best-oculus-quest-games/ - best Quest games
uploadvr.com/best-steam-vr-games/ - best Steam games
vrgamecritic.com/ (covers games only until 2022)

Then games sites (some updated infrequently):
gamesradar.com/best-vr-games/
rockpapershotgun.com/best-vr-games
eurogamer.net/best-vr-games-20261
pcgamer.com/the-best-vr-games/
pcgamesn.com/best-vr-games
vg247.com/the-15-best-vr-games-to-play-right-now
pcmag.com/picks/the-best-vr-games
ign.com/articles/best-vr-games-2020 - best VR games (all platforms)
ign.com/articles/2019/05/21/the-best-vr-games-for-the-oculus-quest - best Quest games

And lastly, hardware sites (again some updated infrequently):

techradar.com/uk/best/the-best-vr-games

Just to add vrgamecritic.com/ and odeals.net/pla…est to the list of useful resources.

Vrgamecritic has a focus on VR games, so it often has reviews that aren't noticed on Open Critic / Metacritic.

Odeals is a US-only price tracker site for Meta Quest games.
The sales & prices are not always mirrored on the UK store but it does give you a clue as to whether a game has been cheaper before.

used to keep his "Infamous Spreadsheet" up to date with the UK prices but it seemed like quite an onerous task with very little payoff, so I don't think they have been updated since July.

Perhaps if he were to add his own referral links into the sheet, he could benefit, while benefiting others..

I did add some links seeing as I (or anyone else) wasn’t allowed to link to my spreadsheet (or mention it sometimes ).

It was a massive task, but seeing it help others was payment enough. The reason I stopped was because they started doing bespoke sales for Quest owners, it made it impossible to track the prices.

I had no interest in VR until I watched the reviews for Asgard's Wrath 2

I completely forgot about that PCVR list sorry  , but that's pretty much provided on this post.

Here's a spreadsheet of all games that've been tested with UEVR. It sounds like your PC should be able to handle most of them at least

Thanks and no worries at all.

I'll take a look at this on the weekend, I've ordered the battery headset and the active/silicone cover because the foam irritated my face! I'd hope my PC would be able to handle most of them yeah, I've been watching a lot of Beardo Benjo on YouTube and some of the UEVR conversions look insane, it makes you wonder why most games don't put a little extra into getting official VR versions out post launch, I'm sure it would be worth their while. It feels like VR is an under appreciated gaming niche, it's hard to sell to someone unless they've tried it though and as someone that was on the fence for so long, I get that.

    Merry Xmas folks!

Three Walkabout Mini Golf courses (UpsideTown, 20K Leagues Under The Sea, and Shangri-La) are discounted to €1/79p. (edited)

Great courses too, UpsideTown is a strange one, but fun

Thanks! I have a windows mixed reality headset and it always seems to get into a fight between steam and windows as to who is controlling it and it not working when I start steam games like 3d pinball or cricket. I got another for my son and would love to have some two player games with him. eg a demo of a racing game. I got them both for £100 each from gumtree.
