Beware, Misleading Offer, Tesco

A current offer in Tesco appears to be misleading, refering to the image below, the Goldfish Curry Sauce paste appears to be included in the "3 for 2" offer shown on the shelf edge below. It is not. So, if you buy 3, you will still pay full price. If you buy one and two other items, you will pay full price.
I spoke to the Manager in Tesco Renfrew and she said 'because there was a gap in the POS offer, then that complied with the trading laws. I said it was misleading and unclear, She said that the customer can check their receipt, sure so long as they take one when asked if they want one...
I spoke to Tesco Head Office, they did nothing, the same with Trading Standards.
What do you think?

The 3 for 2 is clearly a banner, which encompasses the ENTIRE banner... Clearly misleading.
Although it is legally only an invitation to buy, it needs fixing.

We know Tesco are scum. The really surprising thing is that unclear and misleading POS is legal. What is the point of Trading Standards.

Your complaint should be to asa. Also not sure if they give double the difference still. But take advantage but I admit I hate having to do that because I ain't got time and would rather they price correctly, but I think tesco handle that fast where as in asda it's call a manager who doesn't come for 15mins.

I spoke to the manager in Tesco who didn't give a monkeys and pointed out to me that the POS is 'legal'. She just said people should check their receipts, I said is that why you ask if folk want a receipt...Legal doesn't mean moral or decent. FYI, ASDA no longer give gift cards for pricing 'errors', I wonder why.

My local Tesco has moved the offending curry paste, so I'll consider that a victory.

Part of Tesco's new deal, 2 for the price of 3. Looks like a scam to me. (edited)

That 'reason' is BS. The "Any 3 for 2" blue & yellow sign is one single long piece. Therefore it should apply to everything on that shelf. Shame on them

Indeed...I wonder how many people have been scammed. I guess the moral is always take a receipt and always check it.

I had the same problem last time this was on offer with some curry packs (Spice Tailor) which were clearly marked as part of the offer, but they would not honour it. Similar situation with a 3 for £10 offer where the wrong product had been placed at 2 separate parts of the store.

This isn't a mistake though, it is intentional.

I really enjoy Goldfish curry sauce on my deep fried chips.
it is the best chip shop curry sauce going.
Try the other types like the Japanese one… very nice.

You've made me want to buy this now.

Is simply a shareholder of the product, looking to drum up more business? If so, it has worked.

As cecilmcroberts pointed out, this POS is legal, but would a responsible and decent retailer do this...I guess that's why the Supermarkets ask if you want a receipt.

One of the several reasons I always use scan as you shop.

About a month ago I was in Poundland and they had a sales label for Frij 400ml milkshakes, the barcode matched a bottle of Frij milkshake only it was 330ml. The staff couldn't care less.
