Tesco price hikes

So, I am currently doing my usual online shop. I look in my 'favourites' section of what I usually buy and see this: 4329545-yJI7H.jpg
So the fresh Southern fried chicken thighs and drumsticks 800g with a shelf life of 5 days costing £3.75 has been removed from the range and replaced with: New! fresh Southern fried chicken thighs and drumsticks 800g with a shelf life of 2 days costing £4.50.
I hate the sneaky way Tesco cancels items in order to reintroduce something similar but either smaller but more expensive.

No, you vote with your feet and buy elsewhere. If people are thick and just accept it then it's no wonder their profits are soaring, for the moment anyway.

Every store is doing it. Olive oil shot up from £3 a litre to £7 a litre. Where are my feet supposed to go?

You know something odd is going on with pricing when pork chops of a decent thickness are £10 plus per kilo.

All the cheaper stuff is paper thin & it can't be because pigs are just smaller this year compared to 3 years ago.

everything this year feels paper thin. I do the same shop but i end up feeling hungry after. Used to be able to serve whole family. Ready meals are the worst, they just heavily water down the sauce.

Yes the breaded chicken products have all changed the packaging but they have upped the price from £3 to £3.75

Literally the same price as marks and Spencer these days and Marks’s food is tons better!

I haven't shopped in Tesco's for ages. Like you say even the traditionally more expensive supermarkets are now cheaper than Tesco and quality is way better.

Mind you I try to shop as much as I can in local shops, farm shops and markets, why give your money to huge big companies which do absolutely minimal for your local economy and environment.

Folks moan when their local high street is deserted, but most of the time they caused it by not shopping in local shops in the first place.

Tesco have definitely stitched everyone up with their big price rises, I rarely use them now.

2 kg plain chicken drumsticks is £3.70 on offer at Tesco, then add whatever seasoning you like!

Aldi do a pack the same weight for £3.29 apparently. I used to enjoy the Tesco version that just got changed, I'll have to try the Aldi instead.

It's like that all across the board,
Less choice, price hikes, reduced quantities.
Supermarkets used to offer alot more choice eg. 2 litres of own brand budget bottled water was 17p, COVID hit all budget brands disappeared or renamed/rebranded and prices sky rocketed. The cheapest own brand bottled water is now around 45p. This is true for crisps, shampoo etc etc etc.
    Everything is affected.
Premium brands do the same, they reduced quantity but keep prices the same, once people are used to the smaller size, they jack up the price.
