FB Market place ripped off

Hi there,

I have bought some airpods pro on Marketplace thatturn out to be counterfeit. the seller had told me they were genuine, obviously they are no longer responding to my messages, I am just wondering how others would play this. I am £100 down, so obviously not happy. the apple shop has confirmed they are counterfeit.

Don't buy airpods off any marketplace.

Nothing you can do about it without being arrested for assault. That's the harsh reality. (edited)

FB Market place is 95% scammers tbh. I was hunting for cars one year and every single person I came across was a scammer, even the ones I went to actually meet in person. One guy must have thought I was small as he seemed sus from the of, but when my 6ft2 frame towered over him he calmed down.

Do you have their physical address?

    How did you pay?

Are they selling anything else? Use a different account and pretend to buy something and get the money back. If not. Then leave review immediately, report to action fraud and police. Don't worry if they don't do anything, you need to report it, the more reports against one person they will have to do something. Facebook should have option to report as well.

How would they get their money back by pretending to buy something else?

FB marketplace don't have reviews and police won't be interested at all. Buyer beware basically on fb. (edited)

Pay by PayPal which gives you some protection

Chalk it up to experience unfortunately. Not a lot you can do apart from report it to the police and action fraud if you think you have genuine details for them.

I'm assuming OP paid via BT and items were posted?

Then they would have been lucky to have received anything...
