Edinburgh Christmas market

Ok, don’t shoot me down mentioning the C word..
However planning in advance as I know prices are steep!
We’re currently looking at Tigerlilly hotel 25-29 November which is already silly prices but hey ho. Does anybody know what parking is like in the area. We did look at trains but it would be £200 for both of us from N.Wales which is eye watering so looking at the 6 hour plus drive 🙈
Also any other tips?

Prepare to be disappointed. It’s a crowded hellscape.

People say that about York but we found it alright and then we could explore the other sites away from the market

Would an all inclusive coach trip be better?

We’ve not seen any coach deals

Advance tickets won't be on sale until about 3 months before

Yes I understand this but we’ve looked three months in advance from today so would be £200 which is going to be the ballpark going into November

I would also say, going back to your original question - your hotel is very central Edinburgh. There are car parks nearby, but I couldn't tell you which ones would allow for long stay car parking.

Your best bet would be to ask the hotel? Though looking at their website (BTW - Tigerlily) - they do discounts for one of the local NCP car parks, at 50% off - so probably about £18 a day. (edited)

We've choose central as its best for both us to get around places. £18per day is really reasonable

From what I've heard from people who have been, is that the Christmas market in Edinburgh has really gone downhill these last few years. I wouldn't bother if I were you. If you do decide to go, your nearest parking would probably be greenside place. About a ten minute walk from your hotel and £96 for the dates you mention. To be honest, I'd stay a bit further out and come in on the tram. That's only about £3.20 return and they run every 7-10 minutes

Thank you but we’re going and happy to explore the city aswel as the markets. I would rather stay central Edinburgh rather than getting trams daily
