Rumours are pretty certain on the chip being used for it now: Nvidia ARM SoC “DRAKE” (T239)

What's known about that chip puts it at roughly PS4, possibly PS4 Pro levels of power but with the added bonus of DLSS. Should mean it'll be capable of ports of PS5 level games with only minimal downgrades that'll be hard to spot on a small screen.

Interestingly Nintendo have a patent filed for a dual screen handheld where the second screen is detachable (for multiplayer). This seems unlikely to me though, would add way too much to the cost.

What is Nintendo's 'fiscal' year - is that December 24 or April 2025?

Yep - I still have at least 12 of the DSl (spares for the kids!) and I even bought the kids the DSi, however they never really got into them, I always thought it was the better version!

I'm guessing it's just going to be another iteration of the existing Switch - perhaps with "go faster stripes". The games I want to play don't translate well to a small screen, so my Switch is currently collecting dust.

it'll be Nintendo's new generation people refer to it as Switch 2 or sometimes Super Switch, the name Switch Attach came out through a YouTube survey a while back which could actually be the name (the Switch Lite and Switch OLED names came out this way) . . . seems very likely the new console will retain the Switch name

Landscape has massively changed it will have to be good to battle the current handheld market. Looking forward to it all the same.

No it won't. It's Nintendo and it will sell regardless. Probably be a little spec bump and that's it.

Nintendo ruled this generation, and will dominate the next.
