Yes, just done it from xbox.com. Stacking has never been a problem.

Thanks to the OP. Live sub now valid until 12/2016 and my 13th consecutive year of membership assured. It has it's haters, but Live provides me with infinitely more entertainment and value than any other subscription / media service.

Just need eBay to release the July 20% code they've promised for those of us who missed out in June so I can finally grab an XBONE

Your account can be used on either the xbox one or 360.
It's really only to play online multiplayer (Also you get a free game now and again and sales).
You have to make an xbox account first your "Gamertag" and redeem the code through that.

You can stack up to 3 years.
