Morning

I've just been reading about these encyclopedia offerings on itch.io from DaddaRuleKonge, which I think are fantastic for anybody who fancies a read on some of the classic gaming consoles and their games featured in the list below. I've directed above to DaddaRuleKonge's itch.io page which also includes a few more encyclopedias including Collecting POP! vinyl figures and Look at Point-and-click Adventure Games

I was particularly interested to hear...

"I have made around 350-400 bucks since late 2014 across all platforms where I have released the PDF/books Maybe I should have used my time creating an iOS flappy birds clone instead "

All the books are free if you do wish to claim them, but there are possibilities to donate to DaddaRuleKonge before downloading

The books are in PDF format, but are easily convertable for your chosen eReaders using tools.

This guy is a legend. I don't understand 90% of the technical stuff he goes into but it's fascinating stuff.

I've linked above to the full catalogue offered by DaddaRuleKonge, although admittedly I could have been a bit clearer with the link

Thanks Op. Just started showing my young daughter the world of classic gaming. These will be great reads and finding some of the old classics we can play. Heat!

Stupid app layout made me vote cold, sorry, meant to add heat.
  16. hat_ok_dear's avatar
Heat added but layouts look a bit basic and file sizes are huge! Thought my internet had stalled until I realised they were gigabytes in size.

Thanks for this. These will help me find some games for my emulators.

Pity you can't get the PS2 files without creating an account.

Heat added - this is quite good timing as I was just explaining to my kids about the old school computer gaming we did back in the day. They are trying to find ways of getting out of doing school work and volunteered to catalogue the game collections.
I may as well share my research here. For cataloguing games I use Snupps, I like Collectorz, however it's not free. CGCollect is feature rich, I just don't like the interface, same with Darkadia. Delicious Library is great, but Mac only. Does any one else have cataloguing/database suggestions?

Is it just me or does anyone else find the Sega Mega Drive covers/graphics super exciting? Literally every time I see the things they look so super shiny with the black/grid pattern and beautiful artwork. The artists clearly put a lot of effort in back then. (edited)

Although it is free its definitely worth thinking about donating a couple of pounds towards it

Great find 🏼 For some lovely, brilliant quality retro books, check out bitmap books as well. They are slowly building up an excellent range of hard backs.

Excellent, I've been trying to find out a specific Neo-geo game on the MVS arcade machines for ages, hopefully it's in there, had to get the SNES and Playstation ones as well.
    Thank you heat added

The value in these PDfs is quite plainly with the research - lots of time and effort spent there!

Very nice but a bit too big to be downloading them all.
I wouldn't bother with the Pop one. It's 5 years old and the values of the pops on the one page shown are $100-200 lower than they are now.

I would love to have someone to make a Britannia of video games for my shelf. The internet has made all that obsolete. But I love the feeling of a good book.

This is awesome OP! Thankyou! I used to be big into gaming from the age of 5, up until a few years ago when i started getting migraines and can no longer tolerate Computer games, Phones, tv screens etc as they are a trigger! Kinda Sucked going cold turkey after 25 years I havent found a solution and don't think i will but luckily i am fine aslong as i avoid these things that i used to love! Anyway this is a great way for my to relive some nostalgia from my younger years without actually playing the games so im very thankfull for this! Very awesome and look forward to reading them (edited)

I wonder if a high refresh monitor would help, something 120hz perhaps?

Thanks for the suggestion, is something that i have been curious to try but havent had anyway to test it as of yet! In theory it should atleast make some difference! I just seem to be on the worst end of the spectrum unfortunately but havent given up hope yet! Would love to get some Doom or Shenmue 3 on the go some day! :P
