I watched this again quite recently - one of the few programmes best watched week by week rather than binge through. When you watch back through them, it's obvious how much filler there is to pad out each episode. I didn't even finish the first season, even though I absolutely loved it when it was on.

The daughter was obviously the filler for the first few seasons. As bad as the "Save the cheerleader, save the world" thing with Heroes.

Amusing thing is, by the end of the first season they reveal "the world" was actually New York City, and the population of that part of the world was the title. Less than 1%.

Funny when you think of it that way.

My dvd complete box set sits firmly in a cupboard somewhere … if I want a recap I’ll watch it a full hd on Disney

You might want to revisit that box set. Considering the season prequel mini episodes are disc exclusive.

Thought there is one DVD extra that should've been omitted:
Ricky Gervais inserted into an episode.

That's a fantastic price, although there's if you watch that lot you'll want to buy the other seasons too, so that's an extra cost. But yeah, what a great show. Hope it comes back again!
