Do Sony not specify a minimum of 5,500MB/s read speed?

    ^ This.
There are some that will tell you it'll make a difference for future games...it won't.
The only thing you'll notice is games taking a little longer to install, but game loading times will be the same as the it's 4k random r/w speeds that matter, and the difference in random r/w speeds between this and even the most expensive drives is minimal. (edited)

Yup won't be long now, 4TB don't seem to be fetching the massive premium they used to.

30TB HDDs coming in Q3 apparently, so you'd presume the lower capacity drives will come down in price even more soon. (edited)

It makes the Xbox expansions seem all the worse, wish I’d held off on the 2TB now.

Xbox expansions jave been terrible value since PS5 releases compatability with 2280s, and yet still no mention of when seagates deal will end, or any indication at all.

P5 plus it's the recommended for ps5 but would have thought this would work. Easter is usually a good time for discounts and I just picked up the 2tb p5 plus for £124 off a deal on here (CCL/eBay). Heatsink off Amazon for £7.99.

P5 Plus is a nice drive, but if someone wants 4TB for their PS5 that's not an option. (edited)

Wow I would love 4tb in my ps5. I suppose the 2tb will have to do for now

already have one of these, and when the price drops to below £200 I will pick up another two and wave bye bye to mechanical drives in the PC

For PC I'd rather go TLC (with DRAM if possible), lets hope the prices of those large capacity drives to close to this in the future.

Just an fyi for anyone on the fence, particularly for PS5 use. I bought this back in January, initially had concerns about the speed but if it wasn't up to spec was going to stick it in my PC instead.

I haven't had any problems I can remember since the install in January. Speeds seems to be on the higher end of the rating, the PS5 initial test for read speeds you get when initially installing the drive did report lower then expected, but not by much, its only a snapshot anyway. Since installing it I have been using it in the PS5 for my default install location for PS5 games and its been fine.

The only potential performance issue i was concerned related to the speeds of the drive itself was when playing Hogwarts legacy; sometimes when running around the school the doors would take a couple seconds to open, clearly loading, but as I understand it this was an issue across platforms and from what I could conclude, wasn't due to the read speeds of the drive. (adding as an example though just in case for real world use and feedback)

was a great deal then, prices plummeting! kind of regret not waiting now!
