Been looking for one of these for a while only decent one that supports 1GBP Broadband with consistently good reviews, Orbi is good also but the prices are insane, hope it helps someone else, I think the price is only valid till tomorrow.

Decent price, I've got the XT8 which is fairly solid, I had to rollback a firmware update as it caused games to loose connection to the servers (frustrating on HLL when you've got a 10min queue to join a decent server, and 20min in you get kicked). Rollback resolved it. There are frequent firmware updates, occassionally I had to reboot the routers, but not had to do that since before Christmas.

That’s good to know, how do you find the VPN they market as free when most charge a subscription?

I've read that some asus routers don't play well with sonos systems, are there any other issues these have? Looking to upgrade my old nest wifi network with something wifi 6, tri band and that gives you a few more settings to play with

When you use these do they have 2 different names and passwords and have to connect all wireless devices to both or do they operate off the same details ? Also can they be used with virgin media hub in modem mode ? (edited)

Usually the same SSID or wifi network. I think you could also split the bands and have one SSID for 5ghz and one for 2.4ghz depending on what's best for your devices

For those with this, or the XT8, how stable are Asus routers right now?

I had an XT8 mesh system about 2 years ago but had issues with wifi connection on multiple devices, so I had to return it.

Since then, I have been using Eero - recently upgraded to Eero 6 pro, but looking to give the Asus XT9 another try as it has features that I would like to use (NAS drive etc)

My Eero systems have been more or less configure and forget, and I like the features on the app - like notifications when new devices connect etc. However, I want to try the XT9 again...if it is stable/reliable enough.

Mine arrived today but it’s struggling to get anywhere near 1gb speeds this is the same if not slightly worse than my old Orbi RBK50 which is not even WiFi 6 what makes it even more strange on the ASUS app speed test it’s showing as 900mb+ but on Speedtest.net close to 500mb I feel like I’m doing something wrong anyone else experience the same?

That's highly odd..I am guessing that you have already checked for the latest firmware and rebooted it all.

It could be down to QOS settings on the router. The router may be throttling some traffic, If you disable that and try, it might help.
