The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO headphones become a loyal companion for producers thanks to their wide stereo image and three-dimensional sound reproduction.

Outstanding tonal depth makes sure that even small changes in the positioning of the acoustic source can be perceived when mixing. The DT 990 PRO headphones are and always have been handcrafted in Germany, made from high-quality materials and world-class workmanship, these studio headphones are an incredible long-term investment.

INCREDIBLE SPACIOUSNESS
The circumaural headphones and open-back design offer oustanding spaciousness and detailed tonal depth. Their mild bass and treble boost provide a pleasant sound, whilst bass is not overstated but rather precise and the treble boost is powerfully present without sounding harsh.

EXTREME COMFORT
The single-sided cable allows the headphones to be put on and taken off frequently without cables getting tangled, and soft, adjustable ear cups make for added comfort. The robust spring steel headband design ensures that these over-ear headphones have a secure fit.

DURABILITY
One aspect that sets our products apart from the rest is that they are handmade in Germany. Beyerdynamic are particularly proud of the durability of their products, because all the components used are replaceable if needed.

HIGH-END STUDIO QUALITY
Thanks to the Tesla technology developed in Heilbronn, the DT 1990 PRO features even finer resolution with precise and powerful bass. The PRO flagship also sets new standards in terms of wearing comfort and workmanship.

Would these need any specific equipment to run?

They don't need an amp and are fairly easy to drive even from smartphone

You might PREFER them with an amp and they might then get louder then you'd want to listen, but for most they'd be fine running natively

I've had a pair of these for the past 6 years. Used daily, never had an issue. It's hard to come by products that you can actually vouch for now, but this is one I recommend to all my friends when they ask for headphone recommendations.

    Excellent headphones.
really accurate hi-fi grade sound at a very reasonable price.
built like a tank too.typical German design.
very wide sound stage.(which makes them some on of the best options for gaming too)

    Good deal, heatered!

I used these for a while and wore them out a bit but now I bought 2nd hand 1990s Beyer's I'm set.
These are well worth 120 unless you find and would wish for some 1990s on offer, say 315.1 UKP.

Would also recommend the DT900 if you can find them for a decent price! Nice to have an updated model with detachable cable

I need a pair for both mixing and recording, would I be better off getting the 770s?

770 are closed, these are open. Choice should be based on this

How does this compare to the Senn HD 600, or HD 560S?

I have the rare 30ohm 990 Pros. I absolutely love them to bits. I've spent a pretty penny buying mods for them in the couple of years I've had them.

Great cans without the need of an amp was a must as I plug them straight into my Dualsense controller for power. I use a USB DAC when I'm on my PC, though.

Guys i could do with advice / opinion / explanation.

Ive recently started getting into high quality audio equipment for my PC setup moving from usb headphones, I have brought a Autaria minifuse 2 interface but feel the DT 770 pro 250 Ohm (closed back version of these which ive bought) are not very good at all on it. The bass is extremely low and poor in my opinion (despite many online saying it would work fine and be loud and that the DT 770 is as good as my others Im not feeling the same way). I also own a pair of Audio Technica M50x and those sound absolutely incredible (as they are lower Ohms) on the same setup. Unfortunately I am returning them as they are extremely uncomfortable after only an hour of wearing. Im baffled - Do i need to buy an amp and will the DT 770 pro ever sound close to the Audio Technica M50x? Ive ordered a HD400 which i am going to give a try but was wondering if there is anyone out there with similar setup knowledge understanding or experience. I know the bass is boosted on the Technicas but they sound crisper and fuller than the DT 770s which if im being honest I think are a bit crappy in comparison for sound quality (Im hoping that this is an amp issue though)

Sent the DT 770 250 Ohm back - audio interface wasnt driving them to a high enough volume for me and they sounded crap - re-ordered the DT 770 pro 80 Ohm instead and also got a set of 560s for £100 brand new which i can highly recommend (using them as i type this and listening to HQ audio - they sound incredible). As others have said unless you have a good powered amp dont buy 250 Ohm versions despite what some may say - i can state with first hand experience audio interfaces dont run them properly! (edited)

Audio interfaces aren't known for this headphone capability which is a bit stupid when you think about it.

A word of warning.. these headphones are not all they are hyped up to be. I have now tried two sets of the 770 pro (closed back version of these) after hearing nothing but great things with reviews and community members.. ignoring the bad reviews and going with the majority who claim the beyerdynamic are good.. for me they are not! The 250 ohms were trash quality quiet no bass (yes I know these are not meant for bass but they produced seriously bad blown sounding poor quality bass with and without eq) figured it was my audio interface not being powerful enough so bought the 80 ohm version and omg they are even worse! Has made me appreciate just how good my Sennheiser 560s are.. trust me.. buy those instead!!
