Key difference from mx3 for me is that only the Bose will connect to two devices at a time. Plus the recipient call quality is substantially better. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure you couldn’t tell the difference in a random “taste test” experiment. I’m not saying there aren’t marginal differences in ANC / base etc, I’m saying that if you heard one at random, I’m not certain those differences are so great that you’d always be able to correctly identify which one you were listening to. Other differences re touch vs buttons, style, battery life, usb-c are all a bit meh to me. But having said that, if the mx3 had multipoint connectivity and better call quality, I’d have gone with them instead purely on the feature set. 700s will change all that. The additional external mics for enhanced call quality are steps ahead again.

meherenow

Had these and returned as I found the bluetooth range woeful, always cutting out. Went for the Sony WH-1000XM3 and can now wander around the house no bother.

padamowicz93

Just get the xm3 or wait and try 700s. I had xm3 and qc35 2 for weeks and bose are significantly worse as far as sound quality goes.

Omg... I just looked at the 700 spec

luvsadeal

Don’t want to make you cry fella. Only said I don’t like kit sound products then boom landed a big one 🎣

Lol. You remind me of the Harry Enfield character that says “I’m considerably richer than yaooou” anything else you want to flex about? What car you driving?

luvsadeal

Thanks for your concern but you’ll be pleased to know the headphones where so they could listen to their iPads on our holiday to Disney so don’t panic I don’t keep them locked in a dungeon with cheap s**t kit sound products. There headphones broke before we got there and if you have a google I think you’ll find the reviews are mostly poor. But as long as you happy.

Waste of money. If you do buy any always buy with Aux option. At least when battery failed they still can be used using an Aux cable like normal headphones

jim_r_mcintosh

In terms of sound quality I think they will be very close for most people unless you're an audiophile. My wife has the latest Sony but they weren't available when I was buying. The user replaceable battery was what swung it for me. I keep stuff for a long time.

jim_r_mcintosh

Sorry John Lewis didn't have a brick to compare them to. I compared them against the Bose, which were also comfy and lighter but you couldn't turn off the noise cancelling, the Sony s which also were comfy. The B&W which I thought were very uncomfortable. The B&O are a bit heavier I think. I certainly wouldn't use them for running or the gym but for sitting in the office they are perfect.

The_Hoff

Comfortable? Compared to what?! A brick?

mroller

How do they compare to the Sony XM3?

Yes, it will work like a regular Bluetooth. Although it does have a few more features when connected to an iOS device.

wakkaday

Could this work with Samsung tablets

ezzer72

I have no issue with wireless charging, I accept that some phones run out of charge a few times a day (though my P20 Pro isn't one of them (y) ) but my Airpods need charging about every 2-3 weeks... I'm mainly offering this advice for people who are considering their first set, and don't know if they need to pay the extra for wireless - they don't.

mango.carrot

I own both sets, the wireless charging is a nice to have. No one needs wireless charging for anything, but it’s convenient and it’s the way everything is going

ezzer72

Sure, but again, they really don't need charging very often, I'm sure anyone that owns a set will get my point. And in that scenario, your phone's battery would be robbed, so that would then need charging much sooner. Totally pointless feature, and not worth 1 extra penny.
