Best to get a AAND or OMRON.

Japanese have best reliability. I know this as a health professional.

HUKD should moderate these types of threads with the disclaimer that the official advice is to only purchase machines validated by British Heart Foundation.
I don't think we should promote a market that can create a false sense of security and equally unnecessary panic!

    Voted cold.
Validated BP machines appear on here all the time for 15 to 20 pounds. (edited)

You should make that suggestion to them if you are genuinely concerned

Wouldn't touch a unbranded Chinese product that requires accuracy for your health.

    100% avoid.

Wouldn't trust a seller thats only got 3 things and 2 of them are toys, and their address is where crap load of dodgy Chinese factories have registered UK addresses, hhhmmmm.

    All the same people

I have to take my blood pressure for the doctor's record. I use Lloyds models for the last three years. Not the most pretty but they are very accurate. Here is a link.
This meter is often on offer for £14.00, if you can wait. The cuff they come with is small to large (22 - 42cm) and will fit most people. If you need extra large (48cm), you can add this for £3.99 (out of stock at the mo).

I've had this model for 2 years. Have taken it in to my doctor's surgery with me when having my bp done and matched the reading on theres within a few digits...I have no qualms in recommending this to home measure your BP.. it's also very handy that it stores lots of your readings, timestamped, for when you have to complete a couple of weeks worth for the docs (edited)

Check out the British and Irish Hypertention Society website for recommended monitors.

Purchased this a few days ago and works fine for the money. Probably not the most accurate but does the job .
    PaulStringer's avatar
If it’s not accurate how on earth does it do the job?

I've got this. Been using for a couple of years. It's good, accurate as well.
    rickyroma's avatar
How do you know its accurate?

i know people who are obsessed with taking their b/p several times a day, they are so tense and worried so obviously it is high, ditch the home machines unless your doctor recommends you do, hypertension thresholds have dropped in the USA so much because Pharmaceutical companies want to make money so more people will be falsely labelled with hypertension, please research overdiagnoses and overtreatment of hypertension by research papers by the likes of the BMJ no less

My mate has this one and it works well.
It's got some sort of medical validation.

I've had that for a few months, It's manufactured by OMRON and is the same as the one used by my GP.

British heart foundation have a list of validated BP machines. I would pick one of them. There is no point using a machine that does not give accurate readings

BP monitors have nothing much to do with the British Heart Foundation. Instead, they leave it up to the British and Irish Hypertension Society, who have a list of recommended, and not recommended list of monitors.

This machine posted is not on their list of "not recommended" machines.

Going back to the British Heart Foundation, from their website, their advice to those who have purchased machines for home use is to, "check your machine with a surgery, or pharmacist to ensure readings are fairly similar".

Voted hot to counter those who have voted cold.

I have this one also and my GP said it was reasonably accurate.

I have one of these and it's possibly saved my life so don't knock it if you don't have one.
It's good, batteries last forever in it and it's accurate to docs/hospital units within -+2. The only negative is that the cuff is large, so if you're under 5'8" ish it will be too big for your arm and won't sit high enough above your elbow.
BP down from 200/140 to 135/95 and dropping. Angioplasty next week
This has potentially saved my life.

    Heat added.

I literally died five times on living room floor last night after I calculated the monthly increases to our household outgoings.

My wife did some CPR stuff and ran the monitor thingy and hey presto I'm still alive, until next month's credit card statements, anyway. (edited)

When it comes to health, why would you get the cheapest, unverified product?

If your just trying to save money, it's cheaper not to get anything and perhaps die early.

But really the best deal would be to get something that's proven accurate and reliable.
    Unsane's avatar
I don't want to die early. Is there a better product on market to avoid sudden death?
