    They're even worse than Minehead.

Last time I went to Butlin's we had to pay for electricity at the special rate!

Having been to the Minehead Butlins a few times, I can honestly say that as long as you aren't paying school holiday prices, you get incredible value. Minehead especially is pretty cheap around the resort for stuff like food and drink too.

Some of the accommodation can be a bit ropey for a family stay but if you pay a bit extra for something like a deluxe suite/bungalow then it is comfortable and just what is needed for a family break. We tend to go with a few families so we actually spend little to no time in the room but it is nice to have some of the kitchen facilities.

Just gutted the kids are of school age now and every time we want to go on holiday we have to remortgage.

The idea is that you'll all be so fixated on Peppa Pig that you won't notice the bombed out shell that's your chalet.

Great price. Only ever been to Skegness butlins. Is there much to do around Minehead outside of Butlins?

Theres a bit of a town within walking distance right outside Minehead camp which is alright and a coastal path for walking if thats your thing, Few loads areas that are okay to visit like Dunster which is nearby with its little village and a castle sometimes have shows on there, Cheddar gorge and other places... I've not been in years yet always like Minehead camp with its surrounding area.

We went in May in a gold apartment. Fools gold more like; it was like a halfway house for crack addicts.

I worked at Minehead (Redcoat) years ago when the train and chair lift were still going..It was then there best camp and a kids dream holiday. I use to take my kids here in the late 1990s. It use to be around £40/£50 for 7 nights all in ( everything included) Butlins have added so much accommodation and hardly any extra entertaiment. The place now has three times the customers and thats why you have to book or wait for everything. Its not a value holiday anymore and its way over priced. I feel sorry for Parents today having to fork out all that money during summer holidays and being dissapointed.

Worst holiday I've ever been on, even at this price. You couldn't pay me to go there.

    Love Peppa Pig.

Not a huge fan of Butlins though unless Ted Bovis is on.

He’s on at the Butlins where Billy Butlin is the Camp Commander

I'm assuming the Silver refers to the Silverfish.

Most variants of Silverfish are harmless.

    The Butlins ones aren't though.

Grabbed a couple of these deals in Minehead and I wouldn’t bother again.

Poor accommodation aside, it’s just boring. They’ve scaled back so much entertainment thanks to (the excuse of) COVID.

Almost everything needs to be booked in advance via the website/app, but good luck booking it. I went straight on after receiving the notifications that bookings were open and stuff was already fully booked!

There’s not much else to do without a booking either. Anything you can walk up to is full most of the day.

The restaurants are a pain. We waited 90 minutes for awful food one night. Couldn’t eat out any other time as they all had a wait of at least 60 minutes (or were closed).

Places like Burger King, the pasty place and SoHo coffee are on massively reduced hours.

The fun-fair is being refurbished bit by bit, so one or two things are always closed.

I know the feeling of getting away is nice sometimes, but this isn’t a “holiday”, it’s a disappointment under a pavilion.

I last went in May and it didn’t seem to have improved. (edited)

Has anyone been recently? This year without any covid restrictions is it still as bad as this sounds? I was looking to go in Summer, expensive (haven't booked yet) but really put off my this comment in particular.

Went to minehead in May, accommodation was pretty good, no restrictions in place, no ordering with an app and having to wait, all rides open, entertainment weren’t the best but overall was good 8 out of 10 rating

Stayed here years and years ago. All 4 of us left early. All of us were bitten by bed bugs!
It put me off for life.

Private caravans around the lake are the best experience at butlins minehead. Went in 2021 when butlins was closed. Bliss
