😩 just opened a pack and it’s covered in white spots I guess before mould sets in. Check your packs guys.

There was loads last night and I checked today all removed. I wonder why? (edited)
    Blue_Horseshoe's avatar
Not removed, just sold out I suspect at that price. The white spots are most likely just cheese crystals which are quite normal on mature cheddar, are a result of the maturing process and are entirely safe to eat. Just google 'white spots on cheese'.

Now showing as £3 on Asda website. It was showing as £1.25 earlier this morning. Maybe it was an error and they have now corrected it?

It’s £3.00 I store and on website - thought it was too good to be true :-(
    sashforth's avatar
Definitely £1.25 on website for me. Allows me to add to basket but not checked out yet.

    £3.00 is for mature.

Scanned at £3.25 in Bristol ASDA. Staff said nothing they can do - online prices are different to instore. (edited)

Cribbs had it for £1.25 if that helps

48597733-SMSMo.jpg.Went to Asda this morning and picked up 3 packs - the shelf had a label of £1.25 but scanned at £3. I queried this with the self checkout person and showed her the shelf price and she honoured the £1.25 price. I found that I had purchased the "our strongest ever" rather than extra mature, which were all out of stock. (edited)
  11. banshee3099's avatar
Wow! That’s really cheap! Wonder why it’s just the extra mature one?
    madmosh_uk's avatar
Why would anyone buy anything other than extra mature anyway? It's the best (until they do a stronger one!)

Made sure mine has longest use by date. Mine are 25/1/2023
    Cooling_Deals's avatar
Best-before dates on Cheese are just for stock control. In a sealed bag, in a fridge, Chedder will happily last well past it.

One of the biggest issues relating to food waste is misunderstanding "Best-before dates" and thinking they are absolute. (edited)

  16. sneakybifta's avatar
£3.57/kg is a good bit cheaper than the cheapest big value cheese in the supermarkets. Great price for a brand. Stock up if you can afford it. (edited)

After my local ASDA refused to honour the "online price" yesterday I did a click and collect order and was able to get some at £1.25 today. From the very same store!
  23. C_Mc's avatar

  24. sashforth's avatar
Looks like a misprice to me. Stock up if you can.
    NuffinisFree's avatar
I hope they are not changing the packaging, e.g. smaller weight hence reduced to clear current stock

The taste has changed since their scandal, won't buy again. Babybel was more mature last time I had this. Store own-brand is better value normally and tastes better!

    scandal?

  39. charltonator's avatar
Probably contains proteins in this batch that ties them to pollution, so they’re selling it all off. I’m gonna buy the lot
