Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.

It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.

CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.

You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past.

It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

CBT has been shown to be an effective way of treating a number of different mental health conditions.

In addition to depression or anxiety disorders, CBT can also help people with:

bipolar disorder
borderline personality disorder
eating disorders – such as anorexia and bulimia
obsessive compulsive disorder
panic disorder
phobias
Post-traumatic stress disorder
psychosis
schizophrenia
sleep problems – such as insomnia
problems related to alcohol misuse
mental toughness
anxiety
insomnia
self discipline

Feeling lost about how to treat disturbing intrusive thoughts? You’re not alone!

Hi guys. I appreciate that when we are low (and/or) anxious it can be very difficult to make the change we want to make.
The self-help guides on Northumberland guides can be used and offer some really good interventions. Unfortunately, it does require some motivation. It is well researched and clinically effective.

Same here. I bought two books recently (The road less travelled and Good vibes good life), just no interest in picking them up. Good old depression, try to help yourself and it’s and endless battle. Hopefully I will soon, and thanks for the heads up.

I hope things improve for you soon. I'm going through an episode myself and the inertia and apathy is so hard to deal with.

If it helps someone , awesome. Gathered reading material such as these, but need to read em! Currently trying out CBD oil from CBDiablo.co.uk which albeit provides only moments of relief (better sleep, less overthinking about past etc), 20% of their profits go to the mental health charity CALM (edited)
