Just a nod that there is also OpenRA - "open source project that recreates and modernizes classic real time strategy games, like Red Alert, Command & Conquer, and Dune 2000."

    openra.net/

And if you do like the 'retro' games, or the management games, then you really should play OpenTTD (open source Transport Tycoon)

    openttd.org/

This was the best game ever. All the fun of building a train set, without the hassles of clearing enough space in the living room.

I can confirm it runs fine on Windows 11.

    Game runs straight from Steam.

Preferred the 2nd one but heat added for the deal.

Yeah for me the best RTS are Dune 2 and C&C Red Alert 2.

Emperor:Battle for Dune (2001 aka Dune 4) was poor as enemy bases and arsenal were not built up from the start. On the single player you could literally send troops out to locate the enemies base. Reload save at start and build arsenal, send to location to destroy enemy. Repeat for every level. (edited)

Is this actually a steam game?

Or does it link thru to the EA Launcher or something?

Not considered one of the classics, but still a good game to have. Heat

It's got the best cutscene ever, can't get more classic than that.

Do these games definately work on modern computers (ie Win 11, 64-bit) as it says:
    • OS: Windows XP/Vista (64-bit not supported)
