If you're considering filling up your vehicle at the Costco petrol station, you should be aware that a long queue is a common occurrence. Although the wait time may be around 20 minutes, it's important to note that some other nearby petrol stations may offer the same fuel for a lower price of 1.43. Therefore, it might be worthwhile to check out your options before deciding to queue up at Costco. Additionally, keep in mind that the quality of the fuel and the level of service may also vary between different petrol stations, so it's important to weigh all factors when making your decision.

The ASDA petrol station which is usually empty near Trafford centre is 1p more expensive per litre but you avoid waiting 30+ minutes. Now, people may argue that Costco offers more premium fuel, not sure I'd be happy to wait in this sort of queue again, however.

Certainly depends on area, I'm in a rural area 30 miles from a Costco and yet both Esso and Shell are priced £1.409 and £1.429 the same for petrol and diesel the same as Costco yet all the supermarkets etc are 5-12p more within 40+miles.

Worth pointing out that the diesel is premium. So would need to compare to esso and shells equivalent

My local (Gateshead) must be one of the dearest Costcos in the country for fuel. The fact that the prices vary from branch to branch demonstrates that Costco just aims to be the cheapest in its area rather than having one unifying price for all its sites. Gateshead Costco pegs itself to Asda at the Metrocentre.

That is exactly what they do, they don't say otherwise.

All stations work off the area, 2 jets near me are 2 totally different prices.

I was on the A49 heading towards the M54 the other day and a no name garage in the sticks had diesel at 137p. I was surprised. Meanwhile, Keele Services on the M6 still wants 186p.

That garage is mga cheap. They have their own fuel tankers avd seem to be able to jump on low wholesale prices at the stanlow refinery to be really cheap.

Probably means you can’t get in the Sheffield branch again for massive queues at the petrol

I agree, it could be counterproductive just to drive down and then be waiting in the queue for half an hour to put some fuel in. By the time u drive down, wait in the queue with the engine running, you could have just got the same equivalent from a regular pump.

Filled up at Oldham yesterday, same price. I usually go to the Manchester/Trafford store which is always slightly more expensive but was just nearby

Prices generally for fuel in Peterborough if you're ever passing by are around 136.9 for fuel at most stations. It's crazy the disparity in areas at the moment, big brands clearly profiteering in some places.

Mad how the press a few days ago started posting about how diesel prices are overinflated and that we are being ripped off... Now prices dropped 10p in a week.

Also, Asda near me was always close to Costco and always cheaper than anywhere else but now even Texaco is cheaper.

Still far too expensive at most garages even if the gap is coming down at certain places. The price differences at supermarkets is also a joke as well as they all are owned / ran by the individual supermarket so there’s also no justification for this (edited)

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but if the government got rid of their 35% windfall tax, prices might actually go back to normal seeing as fuel prices are back to pre-covid levels. We shouldn't be paying over £1.30 for petrol or £1.40 for diesel (edited)

So much for cheap electric vehicle running costs...

If charging at home, that's still true. When charging out and about, electric cars are expensive (especially in the Winter where BEV efficiency is crap)
